GOD’S GOODNESS(DEUTERONOMY 6:10-19)
(신 6:10) 네 하나님 여호와께서 네 조상 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱을 향하여 네게 주리라 맹세하신 땅으로 너를 들어가게 하시고 네가 건축하지 아니한 크고 아름다운 성읍을 얻게 하시며//And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
(신 6:11) 네가 채우지 아니한 아름다운 물건이 가득한 집을 얻게 하시며 네가 파지 아니한 우물을 차지하게 하시며 네가 심지 아니한 포도원과 감람나무를 차지하게 하사 네게 배불리 먹게 하실 때에//And houses full of all good {things}, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
(신 6:12) 너는 조심하여 너를 애굽 땅 종 되었던 집에서 인도하여 내신 여호와를 잊지 말고//{Then} beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
(신 6:13) 네 하나님 여호와를 경외하며 그를 섬기며 그의 이름으로 맹세할 것이니라//Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
(신 6:14) 너희는 다른 신들 곧 네 사면에 있는 백성의 신들을 따르지 말라//Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which {are} round about you;
(신 6:15) 너희 중에 계신 너희의 하나님 여호와는 질투하시는 하나님이신즉 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 네게 진노하사 너를 지면에서 멸절시키실까 두려워하노라//(For the Lord thy God {is} a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
(신 6:16) 너희가 맛사에서 시험한 것 같이 너희의 하나님 여호와를 시험하지 말고//Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted {him} in Massah.
(신 6:17) 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 명하신 명령과 증거와 규례를 삼가 지키며//Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee.
(신 6:18-19) 여호와께서 보시기에 정직하고 선량한 일을 행하라 그리하면 네가 복을 받고 그 땅에 들어가서 여호와께서 모든 대적을 네 앞에서 쫓아내시겠다고 네 조상들에게 맹세하신 아름다운 땅을 차지하리니 여호와의 말씀과 같으니라//And thou shalt do {that which is} right and good in the sight of the Lord: that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers. To cast out all thine enemies from before thee, as the Lord hath spoken.

“Oh no!” That was my response upon opening a beehive and discovering the colony had suddenly died. It had been a thriving hive with lots of honey. I’d carefully maintained it throughout a mild winter and anticipated an early harvest. But a cold snap in the warm weather had led to collapse.
“아니, 이럴 수가!” 벌통을 열었을 때 벌들이 모두 죽은 것을 보고 내가 놀라서 한 말이다. 그 벌통은 꿀이 가득하고 건강한 벌이 많았다. 온화한 겨울 내내 조심스럽게 관리했던 터라 내심 조기 수확을 기대했었다. 하지만 따뜻한 날씨 속에 찾아온 갑작스런 한파로 인해 벌떼가 전멸한 것이다.
I checked with local experts. “Many beekeepers lost hives this time,” they reassured me. Mild winters present challenges for bees, even healthy hives. Bees fan their wings to maintain warmth in the hive in winter, but when the weather warms briefly, they exhaust themselves seeking even more food. If temperatures drop quickly, they don’t have strength to keep warm. Their “distraction” leads to destruction.
인근 양봉 전문가들에게 확인해 보니 “이번에는 많은 양봉농가에서 벌들을 잃었답니다.”라고 확인해 주었다. 온화한 겨울은 벌들에게, 심지어 건강한 벌들에게도 어려움을 준다. 벌들은 겨울에 벌집 안을 따뜻하게 유지하기 위해 날개로 부채질을 하는데, 날씨가 잠깐 온화해지면 추가로 먹이활동을 하느라 지치게 된다. 그러다가 기온이 갑자기 떨어지면 벌들은 벌집을 따뜻하게 할 힘이 없어진다. 외부환경이 초래한 혼란이 결국 파멸로 이어진 것이다.
Even good things can become dangers when they turn us from what matters most. Moses cautioned God’s people about this after they left Egypt and before they entered the land God was about to give them - a land with “houses filled with all kinds of good things” that they “did not provide” (DEUTERONOMY 6:11). “When you eat and are satisfied,” Moses warned, “be careful that you do not forget the Lord” (VV. 11-12).
아무리 좋은 일이라도 우리로 하여금 가장 중요한 것을 잊게 한다면 큰 위험이 될 수 있다. 모세는 이스라엘 백성들이 이집트를 떠나, 하나님께서 그들에게 주시려는 땅에 들어가기 전에 이 점에 대해 경고했다. 그 땅은 “네가 채우지 아니한 아름다운 물건이 가득한 집”(신명기 6:11)이 있을텐데 “네게 배불리 먹게 하실 때에 너는 조심하여… 여호와를 잊지 말라”는 경고였다”(11-12절).
Remembering God in our blessings helps us because He is the source of “every good and perfect gift” (JAMES 1:17). When we humbly respond to His goodness by loving Him with heart, soul, and strength (DEUTERONOMY 6:5), we find in Him the best blessing of all. JAMES BANKS
우리가 복을 받을 때 하나님을 기억하는 것은 중요하다. 왜냐하면 하나님은 “온갖 좋은 은사와 온전한 선물”(야고보서 1:17)의 근원이기 때문이다. 우리가 마음과 뜻과 힘을 다하여 하나님을 사랑함으로써 하나님의 선하심에 겸손히 반응할 때(신명기 6:5), 우리는 하나님 안에서 최고의 복을 받게 된다.
