God’s Undeniable Power(Daniel 6:25-28)
(단 6:25) 이에 다리오 왕이 온 땅에 있는 모든 백성과 나라들과 언어가 다른 모든 사람들에게 조서를 내려 이르되 원하건대 너희에게 큰 평강이 있을지어다//Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
(단 6:26) 내가 이제 조서를 내리노라 내 나라 관할 아래에 있는 사람들은 다 다니엘의 하나님 앞에서 떨며 두려워할지니 그는 살아 계시는 하나님이시요 영원히 변하지 않으실 이시며 그의 나라는 멸망하지 아니할 것이요 그의 권세는 무궁할 것이며//I make a decree, that in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he {is} the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom {that} which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion {shall be even} unto the end.
(단 6:27) 그는 구원도 하시며 건져내기도 하시며 하늘에서든지 땅에서든지 이적과 기사를 행하시는 이로서 다니엘을 구원하여 사자의 입에서 벗어나게 하셨음이라 하였더라//He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
(단 6:28) 이 다니엘이 다리오 왕의 시대와 바사 사람 고레스 왕의 시대에 형통하였더라//So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
(요절: 다니엘 6:27) 그(하나님)는 구원도 하시며 건져내기도 하시며 하늘에서든지 땅에서든지 이적과 기사를 행하시는 이//[God] rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth.[Daniel 6:27]
When the Transit Agency of Central Kentucky (TACK) renovated its headquarters, it wanted to make sure people noticed. Instead of a subtle sign or announcement, it installed a massive, nearly twenty-two-feet-tall thumbtack at its entrance. The thumbtack, a world record, is an undeniable marker that no passersby can miss.
켄터키 중부 교통국(TACK)이 본부를 개보수했을 때, 사람들의 눈에 확실히 띄기를 원했다. 그래서 은은한 표지판이나 공지 대신, 건물 입구에 높이가 거의 22피트에 달하는 거대한 압정을 설치했다. 세계 기록에 해당하는 이 압정은 지나가는 누구도 놓칠 수 없는, 부인할 수 없는 표식이다.
In Daniel 6, God used something undeniable to get people’s attention: He miraculously rescued Daniel after he’d been placed in a lion’s den for choosing to defy King Darius’ decree by continuing to pray to God (vv. 10-23). The prophet survived because he’d “trusted in . . . God” (v. 23). Darius then declared that — unlike the dead idols of the Medes and Persians — Daniel’s God was “the living God [who] endures forever” (v. 26). He alone “rescues and . . . saves [and] performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth” (v. 27). It’s remarkable that even a pagan king acknowledged God’s power and sovereignty. Like a giant, divine “thumbtack,” God’s act of power couldn’t be overlooked.
다니엘 6장에서 하나님은 사람들의 주의를 끌기 위해 분명하고 부인할 수 없는 일을 사용하셨다. 하나님께 계속 기도하기로 선택함으로 다리오 왕의 조서를 거역한 다니엘은 사자 굴에 던져졌으나, 하나님께서 기적으로 그를 구해 주셨다(10–23절). 이 예언자가 살아남은 것은 그가 하나님을 의뢰했기 때문이다(23절). 이에 다리오 왕은 메대와 바사의 죽은 우상들과 달리 다니엘의 하나님이 살아 계신 하나님이시며 영원히 계신 분이라고 선포했다(26절). 그분만이 구원도 하시고 건져내기도 하시며 하늘과 땅에서 이적과 기사를 행하시는 분이시다(27절). 이방 왕조차 하나님의 능력과 주권을 인정했다는 사실은 참으로 놀랍다. 거대한 신적 ‘압정’처럼, 하나님의 능력의 역사는 결코 지나칠 수 없었다.
Sometimes God gets our attention as He does something significant and undeniable (v. 27) — supernatural rescues, right-on-time provisions, and heart transformations. Other times, He works quietly as we watch and wait. Let’s stand in awe of what He’s doing in and around us today — trusting in Him and His great power (v. 23). Marvin Williams
때로 하나님은 분명하고 부인할 수 없는 중요한 일을 행하심으로 우리의 주의를 끄신다(27절). 초자연적인 구원, 때맞춘 공급, 마음의 변화가 그러하다. 다른 때에는 우리가 지켜보고 기다리는 가운데 조용히 역사하신다. 오늘 우리 안과 우리 주변에서 행하시는 하나님의 일을 경외함으로 바라보자. 그리고 하나님과 그분의 크신 능력을 의뢰하자(23절).

Sovereign God of heaven and earth, I stand in awe of Your inspiring power.//하늘과 땅의 주권자이신 하나님, 나는 주님의 감탄을 자아내는 능력 앞에 경외함으로 섭니다. 세상의 어떤 기적보다도 내가 구원받고 하나님 나라의 백성으로 살아갈 수 있다는 것이 가장 큰 기적임을 고백합니다. 주님 앞에서 하늘의 소망 가운데 살아갈 때 그 소망이 이 세상에서의 기쁨이 되게 하소서.
