LOVE THE TRUTH(2 THESSALONIANS 2:7-12)
(살후 2:7) 불법의 비밀이 이미 활동하였으나 지금은 그것을 막는 자가 있어 그 중에서 옮겨질 때까지 하리라//For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth {will let}, until he be taken out of the way.
(살후 2:8) 그 때에 불법한 자가 나타나리니 주 예수께서 그 입의 기운으로 그를 죽이시고 강림하여 나타나심으로 폐하시리라//And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
(살후 2:9) 악한 자의 나타남은 사탄의 활동을 따라 모든 능력과 표적과 거짓 기적과//{Even him}, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
(살후 2:10) 불의의 모든 속임으로 멸망하는 자들에게 있으리니 이는 그들이 진리의 사랑을 받지 아니하여 구원함을 받지 못함이라//And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
(살후 2:11) 이러므로 하나님이 미혹의 역사를 그들에게 보내사 거짓 것을 믿게 하심은//And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
(살후 2:12) 진리를 믿지 않고 불의를 좋아하는 모든 자들로 하여금 심판을 받게 하려 하심이라//That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Jack hates school. The lectures on algebra, grammar, and the periodic table bore him. But he loves building houses. His father takes him to work in the summer, and Jack can’t get enough. He’s only sixteen, but he knows about cement, shingles, and how to frame a wall. What’s the difference between school and construction? Love. Jack loves one and not the other. His love fuels knowledge.
잭은 학교를 몹시 싫어한다. 수학과 문법, 원소 주기율표 수업들을 지루해했다. 그러나 그는 집을 짓는 일은 아주 좋아한다. 여름에 아버지와 함께 일하러 가는데, 잭은 아버지를 거드는 정도로 성이 차지 않는다. 그는 지금 열 여섯 살 밖에 안 되었지만 시멘트와 지붕 재료에 대해, 그리고 벽의 틀을 세우는 방법에 대해 잘 알고 있다. 학교 수업과 건축, 어떤 차이가 있는 것일까? 사랑이다. 잭은 건축은 사랑하지만 학교 수업은 사랑하지 않는다. 그의 건축 사랑이 건축 지식을 갖게 해준 것이다.
As believers in Jesus, we’re to “love the truth” (2 THESSALONIANS 2:10). Paul says a satanic figure will use “signs and wonders” (V. 9) to deceive “those who are perishing” (V. 10). Why are they perishing? “They refused to love the truth and so be saved” (V. 10). Their failure to love the truth blinds them from knowing it. They’ll be duped (V. 11).
예수님을 믿는 우리는 “진리를 사랑”(데살로니가후서 2:10)해야 한다. 바울은 사탄이 “멸망하는 자들”(10절)을 속이기 위해 “표적과 거짓 기적”(9절)을 행할 것이라고 말한다. 그들은 왜 멸망할까? “그들은 진리를 사랑하지 않으므로 구원을 받지 못해 결국 멸망하고 말 것이다”(10절, 현대인의 성경). 그들은 진리를 사랑하지 않아 진리를 알지 못하게 되었다. 그래서 거짓에 속을 것이다(11절).
What do we know? That important question depends on a more basic one: what do we love? Our passions incline our heart and direct our mind. We cherish what we love. We protect it and seek more of it. If we love truth and wisdom, we’ll search for them as precious gold (PROVERBS 3:13-14; 4:7-9). They’ll guard us. “Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you” (4:6).
우리는 무엇을 알고 있는가? 이 중요한 질문은 ‘우리는 무엇을 사랑하는가?’라는 더 기본적인 질문에 달려 있다. 우리의 열정은 우리의 마음을 움직이고 생각을 이끌어준다. 우리는 우리가 사랑하는 것을 소중히 여기며, 그것을 보호하고 더 많이 추구한다. 우리가 진리와 지혜를 사랑한다면, 우리는 귀한 금을 찾듯 그것들을 찾을 것이다(잠언 3:13-14; 4:7-9). 진리와 지혜가 우리를 지켜줄 것이다. “지혜를 버리지 말라 그가 너를 보호하리라 그를 사랑하라 그가 너를 지키리라”(4:6).
What is true wisdom? Jesus says it’s Him. “I am the way and the truth and the life” (JOHN 14:6). Our most important question is who do we love? Love Jesus and you’ll learn His way. He’ll guard your life by guiding you into His truth. MIKE WITTMER
무엇이 진정한 지혜인가? 예수님은 그것이 주님 자신이라고 말씀하신다. “나는 길이요 진리요 생명이니”(요한복음 14:6). 우리에게 가장 중요한 질문은 우리가 누구를 사랑하느냐이다. 예수님을 사랑하면 주님의 길을 배우게 될 것이다. 주님은 당신을 주님의 진리로 인도하심으로써 당신의 삶을 지켜주실 것이다.
Why is it important to love the truth? Why does Jesus say He is the truth?
진리를 사랑하는 것이 왜 중요할까요? 예수님은 왜 자신이 진리라고 말씀하실까요?
Dear Father, please fill my heart with love for You and what’s true.//사랑하는 하나님 아버지, 하나님과 진리에 대한 사랑으로 제 마음을 채워 주소서. 말씀 가운데서 진리를 알고 하나님을 알고 하나님의 길을 알아서, 그 길을 거침없이 달려가는 나의 삶이 되게 하소서.
