HONORING JESUS(MATTHEW 26:6-13)
(마 26:6) 예수께서 베다니 나병환자 시몬의 집에 계실 때에//Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
(마 26:7) 한 여자가 매우 귀한 향유 한 옥합을 가지고 나아와서 식사하시는 예수의 머리에 부으니//There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat {at meat}.
(마 26:8) 제자들이 보고 분개하여 이르되 무슨 의도로 이것을 허비하느냐//But when his disciples saw {it}, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose {is} this waste?
(마 26:9) 이것을 비싼 값에 팔아 가난한 자들에게 줄 수 있었겠도다 하거늘//For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
(마 26:10) 예수께서 아시고 그들에게 이르시되 너희가 어찌하여 이 여자를 괴롭게 하느냐 그가 내게 좋은 일을 하였느니라//When Jesus understood {it}, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
(마 26:11) 가난한 자들은 항상 너희와 함께 있거니와 나는 항상 함께 있지 아니하리라//For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
(마 26:12) 이 여자가 내 몸에 이 향유를 부은 것은 내 장례를 위하여 함이니라//For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did {it} for my burial.
(마 26:13) 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에서는 이 여자가 행한 일도 말하여 그를 기억하리라 하시니라//Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, {there} shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

A twenty-dollar bill and two leaflets with messages about Jesus. That’s what was inside an envelope labeled “John Daniels, Sr Random Act of Kindness Day.” A woman gave it to me while I was on my walk at the community college campus. A year earlier, John had been fatally struck by a car after helping a homeless man and sharing words about Christ’s love with him. John’s legacy of witnessing through words and deeds lives on through the woman I met that day, along with John’s other family members.
20달러 지폐 한 장과 예수님에 관한 메시지가 담긴 전단지 두 장. 그것이 “존 다니엘스 시니어, 무작위 친절의 날”이라고 적힌 봉투 안에 들어 있던 것이었다. 한 여성이 지역 대학 캠퍼스를 산책하던 나에게 그것을 건네주었다. 1년 전, 존은 노숙자를 돕고 그에게 그리스도의 사랑에 대해 나눈 뒤 차에 치여 목숨을 잃었다. 말과 행동으로 증거한 존의 유산은, 그날 내가 만난 그 여성과 존의 다른 가족들을 통해 계속 이어지고 있다.
In Matthew 26:13, one woman was memorialized by Jesus with these words: “Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.” The woman’s tender heart for Christ compelled her to anoint Him with expensive ointment (V. 7). What was misunderstood and criticized by others as wasteful (VV. 8-9) was commended by Jesus as “a beautiful thing” (V. 10). The woman’s costly devotion was used by God in a unique way, just as He uses our deeds today for His purposes.
마태복음 26장 13절에서 예수님께서는 한 여인을 다음과 같은 말씀으로 기념하셨다. “내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 온 천하에 어디서든지 이 복음이 전파되는 곳에는 이 여자가 행한 일도 말하여 그를 기억하리라.” 그 여인의 그리스도를 향한 부드러운 마음은 값비싼 향유로 예수님께 기름을 붓게 했다(7절). 다른 사람들에게는 낭비로 오해되고 비판받았던 일(8-9절)이, 예수님께서는 “아름다운 일”(10절)로 칭찬하셨다. 그 여인의 값진 헌신은 하나님께서 특별한 방식으로 사용하셨으며, 오늘날에도 우리의 행위들을 자신의 목적을 위해 사용하신다.
The envelope I received reinforced my desire to distribute resources to those on the street corners in my city, but honoring Jesus can happen in a variety of ways. Let’s tell others about Him and demonstrate His love practically. ARTHUR JACKSON
내가 받은 그 봉투는 내 도시의 거리 모퉁이에 있는 사람들에게 자원을 나누고자 하는 나의 소망을 더욱 굳게 해 주었다. 그러나 예수님을 공경하는 일은 다양한 방식으로 이루어질 수 있다. 우리가 다른 사람들에게 그분을 전하고, 실제적인 행동으로 그분의 사랑을 보여 주자.
