Standing Strong in Christ(Ephesians 6:10-20)
(엡 6:10) 끝으로 너희가 주 안에서와 그 힘의 능력으로 강건하여지고//Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
(엡 6:11) 마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라//Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
(엡 6:12) 우리의 씨름은 혈과 육을 상대하는 것이 아니요 통치자들과 권세들과 이 어둠의 세상 주관자들과 하늘에 있는 악의 영들을 상대함이라//For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high {places}.
(엡 6:13) 그러므로 하나님의 전신 갑주를 취하라 이는 악한 날에 너희가 능히 대적하고 모든 일을 행한 후에 서기 위함이라//Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
(엡 6:14) 그런즉 서서 진리로 너희 허리 띠를 띠고 의의 호심경을 붙이고//Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
(엡 6:15) 평안의 복음이 준비한 것으로 신을 신고//And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
(엡 6:16) 모든 것 위에 믿음의 방패를 가지고 이로써 능히 악한 자의 모든 불화살을 소멸하고//Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
(엡 6:17) 구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀을 가지라//And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
(엡 6:18) 모든 기도와 간구를 하되 항상 성령 안에서 기도하고 이를 위하여 깨어 구하기를 항상 힘쓰며 여러 성도를 위하여 구하라//Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
(엡 6:19) 또 나를 위하여 구할 것은 내게 말씀을 주사 나로 입을 열어 복음의 비밀을 담대히 알리게 하옵소서 할 것이니//And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
(엡 6:20) 이 일을 위하여 내가 쇠사슬에 매인 사신이 된 것은 나로 이 일에 당연히 할 말을 담대히 하게 하려 하심이라//For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Recently, my mom gave me a play-by-play of a surprising confrontation she saw on a live webcam feed from a watering hole in Africa. The Gemsbok, a large antelope, has horns that can be more than two feet long, making it a formidable animal that doesn’t seem to scare easily. That is, unless it comes across a group of brave and rowdy ostriches.
최근에 어머니께서 아프리카의 한 물웅덩이를 비추는 실시간 웹캠 영상에서 목격한 놀라운 대치 상황을 하나하나 자세히 들려주셨다. 큰 영양인 젬스복은 길이가 60센티미터가 넘는 뿔을 가지고 있어 쉽게 겁을 먹지 않는 위압적인 동물이다. 그런데 용감하고 소란스러운 타조 무리를 마주칠 때만큼은 이야기가 달라진다.
The lead ostrich, which was taller than its foes, shook its large feathers, roared, and stomped toward three Gemsbok, causing them to flee.
적들보다 키가 더 컸던 선두의 타조는 커다란 깃털을 흔들고 소리를 지르며 발을 구르면서 세 마리의 젬스복을 향해 다가갔고, 그로 인해 젬스복들은 달아나고 말았다.
“I guess they didn’t realize how powerful their horns are,” I said to my mom.
“아마도 자기들의 뿔이 얼마나 강력한지 몰랐던 것 같아.”라고 나는 엄마에게 말했다.
Believers in Jesus can forget the power we have when faced with attacks from our spiritual enemy, Satan. We have the Holy Spirit who lives inside us (Romans 8:11) and the armor of God to help us: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes” (Ephesians 6:11). Satan wants to challenge our belief in God’s Word, question our identity in Christ, and tempt us to sin.
예수님을 믿는 우리는 영적 원수 사탄의 공격에 직면할 때, 우리에게 있는 능력을 잊어버릴 수 있다. 그러나 우리 안에는 성령께서 거하시며(로마서 8:11), 우리를 돕기 위해 하나님의 전신 갑주가 있다. “마귀의 간계를 능히 대적하기 위하여 하나님의 전신 갑주를 입으라”(에베소서 6:11). 사탄은 하나님의 말씀에 대한 우리의 믿음을 흔들고, 그리스도 안에서의 정체성을 의심하게 하며, 죄로 유혹하려 한다.
But we can stand strong because God’s armor includes “the belt of truth, . . . the breastplate of righteousness, . . . the shield of faith, . . . the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (vv. 14-17).
그러나 우리는 굳게 설 수 있다. 하나님의 갑주에는 “진리의 허리띠, 의의 흉배, 믿음의 방패, 구원의 투구와 성령의 검 곧 하나님의 말씀”(14-17절)이 포함되어 있기 때문이다.
