도약을 재촉하다 2008-03-05(수) Urge To Jump
본문 : 여호수아 22:10-16,21-29(Josh. 22:10-16,21-29)
(수 22:10) 르우벤 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅 요단 언덕 가에 이르자 거기서 요단 가에 제단을 쌓았는데 보기에 큰 제단이었더라//And when they came unto the borders of Jordan, that {are} in the land of Canaan, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to see to.
(수 22:11) 이스라엘 자손이 들은즉 이르기를 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 가나안 땅의 맨 앞쪽 요단 언덕 가 이스라엘 자손에게 속한 쪽에 제단을 쌓았다 하는지라//And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of Jordan, at the passage of the children of Israel.
(수 22:12) 이스라엘 자손이 이를 듣자 곧 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 실로에 모여서 그들과 싸우러 가려 하니라//And when the children of Israel heard {of it}, the whole congregation of the children of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.
(수 22:13) 이스라엘 자손이 제사장 엘르아살의 아들 비느하스를 길르앗 땅으로 보내어 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파를 보게 하되//And the children of Israel sent unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
(수 22:14) 이스라엘 각 지파에서 한 지도자씩 열 지도자들을 그와 함께 하게 하니 그들은 각기 그들의 조상들의 가문의 수령으로서 이스라엘 중에서 천부장들이라//And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one {was} an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
(수 22:15) 그들이 길르앗 땅에 이르러 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파에게 나아가서 그들에게 말하여 이르되//And they came unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, unto the land of Gilead, and they spake with them, saying,
(수 22:16) 여호와의 온 회중이 말하기를 너희가 어찌하여 이스라엘 하나님께 범죄하여 오늘 여호와를 따르는 데서 돌아서서 너희를 위하여 제단을 쌓아 너희가 오늘 여호와께 거역하고자 하느냐//Thus saith the whole congregation of the Lord, What trespass {is} this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the Lord, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the Lord?
(수 22:21) 르우벤 자손과 갓 자손과 므낫세 반 지파가 이스라엘 천천의 수령들에게 대답하여 이르되//Then the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,
(수 22:22) 전능하신 자 하나님 여호와, 전능하신 자 하나님 여호와께서 아시나니 이스라엘도 장차 알리라 이 일이 만일 여호와를 거역함이거나 범죄함이거든 주께서는 오늘 우리를 구원하지 마시옵소서//The Lord God of gods, the Lord God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if {it be} in rebellion, or if in transgression against the Lord, (save us not this day,)
(수 22:23) 우리가 제단을 쌓은 것이 돌이켜 여호와를 따르지 아니하려 함이거나 또는 그 위에 번제나 소제를 드리려 함이거나 또는 화목제물을 드리려 함이거든 여호와는 친히 벌하시옵소서//That we have built us an altar to turn from following the Lord, or if to offer thereon burnt offering or meat offering, or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the Lord himself require {it};
(수 22:24) 우리가 목적이 있어서 주의하고 이같이 하였노라 곧 생각하기를 후일에 너희의 자손이 우리 자손에게 말하여 이르기를 너희가 이스라엘 하나님 여호와와 무슨 상관이 있느냐//And if we have not {rather} done it for fear of {this} thing, saying, In time to come your children might speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the Lord God of Israel?
(수 22:25) 너희 르우벤 자손 갓 자손아 여호와께서 우리와 너희 사이에 요단으로 경계를 삼으셨나니 너희는 여호와께 받을 분깃이 없느니라 하여 너희의 자손이 우리 자손에게 여호와 경외하기를 그치게 할까 하여//For the Lord hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the Lord: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the Lord.
(수 22:26) 우리가 말하기를 우리가 이제 한 제단 쌓기를 준비하자 하였노니 이는 번제를 위함도 아니요 다른 제사를 위함도 아니라//Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice:
(수 22:27) 우리가 여호와 앞에서 우리의 번제와 우리의 다른 제사와 우리의 화목제로 섬기는 것을 우리와 너희 사이와 우리의 후대 사이에 증거가 되게 할 뿐으로서 너희 자손들이 후일에 우리 자손들에게 이르기를 너희는 여호와께 받을 분깃이 없다 하지 못하게 하려 함이라//But {that} it {may be} a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the Lord before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the Lord.
(수 22:28) 우리가 말하였거니와 만일 그들이 후일에 우리에게나 우리 후대에게 이같이 말하면 우리가 말하기를 우리 조상이 지은 여호와의 제단 모형을 보라 이는 번제를 위한 것도 아니요 다른 제사를 위한 것도 아니라 오직 우리와 너희 사이에 증거만 되게 할 뿐이라//Therefore said we, that it shall be, when they should {so} say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may say {again}, Behold the pattern of the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings, nor for sacrifices; but it {is} a witness between us and you.
(수 22:29) 우리가 번제나 소제나 다른 제사를 위하여 우리 하나님 여호와의 성막 앞에 있는 제단 외에 제단을 쌓음으로 여호와를 거역하고 오늘 여호와를 따르는 데에서 돌아서려는 것은 결단코 아니라 하리라//God forbid that we should rebel against the Lord, and turn this day from following the Lord, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for meat offerings, or for sacrifices, beside the altar of the Lord our God that {is} before his tabernacle.
(요절 : 신명기 13:12-14) 네게 소문이 들리기를 … "너희 가운데서 어떤 불량배가 일어나서 그 성읍 주민을 유혹 … 하거든" 너는 자세히 묻고 살펴 보아서//If you hear someone . . . saying, “Corrupt men have gone out from among you and enticed the inhabitants,” . . . then you shall inquire, search out, and ask diligently.
In April 2006, a stuntman tried to jump from the top of the Empire State Building. At the last minute, authorities restrained him and charged him with reckless endangerment. After a judge had looked carefully at all the facts, he dismissed the charges, noting that the accused had taken steps to ensure the safety of others. With a parachute strapped to his back, Jeb Corliss had safely made 3,000 previous jumps, including leaps from the 1,483-foot Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the Eiffel Tower.

As extreme as Corliss’ sport is, it is safer than the kind of leap that almost took place in Joshua 22. Israel had just engaged in a 7-year conquest of Canaan. Suddenly, an alarming rumor raised the possibility of civil war. Word spread that the families who settled east of the Jordan River had built an idolatrous altar (v.10).

A national catastrophe was averted that day, only because someone took time to investigate the facts and listen to both sides of the issue (vv.16-29). A terrible, costly misunderstanding was avoided. The wisdom of God was honored (v.31). Our loving Lord taught His people that the cost of listening is not nearly as great as the cost of jumping to wrong conclusions. - Mart De Haan
그 날 국가적인 재앙을 피할 수 있었는데, 그 이유는 누군가 시간을 가지고 사실을 조사했으며 쟁점의 양쪽편 말을 다 들었기 때문이다(16-29절). 무섭고 희생이 큰, 오해를 피했다. 하나님의 지혜에 영광을 돌렸다(31절). 우리의 사랑하시는 주님이, 듣는 것의 희생이 틀린 결론으로 도약하는 것의 희생보다 거의 더 크지 않다는 것을 그분의 백성들에게 가르쳐 주셨다. - Mart De Haan
Lest judgment should be based on wrong conclusion,//판단이 틀린 결론에 근거하지 않도록 하려면,
Distinguish right from vain and carnal pleading;//헛되고 세속적인 항변과 정의를 구별하라;
The world is rife with error and confusion;//세상은 오류와 혼동으로 가득하다.
Rely alone on God the Spirit’s leading.//성령 하나님의 인도하심에만 의존하라.

Jumping to wrong conclusions is one of the greatest of all dangers.//틀린 결론으로 뛰는 것은 모든 위험 중에서 가장 큰 위험 중의 하나입니다. 가나안을 정복하려던 이스라엘 사람들에게 큰 위기가 왔었습니다. 그것은 외부 세력의 침략이 아니라, 바로 내부의 분열에 관한 것입니다. 그때 서로에게 묻지 않았다면 분명 오해가 잘못된 결론으로 이끌었을 것입니다. 그런데 진상을 조사해 보니 한쪽 편에 오해가 있었던 것입니다.
우리는 때로는 사태를 속단하는 경우가 많습니다. 누군가가 들려준 그 말에만 의존하여 다른 사람을 판단하곤 합니다. 그리고 누군가에 대해 그 사람의 인간성이나 가치관을 잘 알면서도, 때로는 그의 입에서 실수로 나온 말을 가지고 시비를 거는 경우도 있습니다. 당시에는 그것이 나의 귀에 야속하게 들릴 때도 있지만, 실수로 단어를 잘못 사용할 수도 있는 것입니다. 그때는 상대방의 진의를 다시 한번 물어보고 화를 내도 늦지 않습니다. 칭찬은 바로 하고, 화내기는 더디 하는 훈련을 해야 되겠습니다.
