위협과 경고 2008-02-20(수) Threats And Warnings
본문 : 신명기 4:32-40(Deuteronomy 4:32-40)
(신 4:32) 네가 있기 전 하나님이 사람을 세상에 창조하신 날부터 지금까지 지나간 날을 상고하여 보라 하늘 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 이런 큰 일이 있었느냐 이런 일을 들은 적이 있었느냐//For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and {ask} from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been {any such thing} as this great thing {is}, or hath been heard like it?
(신 4:33) 어떤 국민이 불 가운데에서 말씀하시는 하나님의 음성을 너처럼 듣고 생존하였느냐//Did {ever} people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
(신 4:34) 어떤 신이 와서 시험과 이적과 기사와 전쟁과 강한 손과 편 팔과 크게 두려운 일로 한 민족을 다른 민족에게서 인도하여 낸 일이 있느냐 이는 다 너희의 하나님 여호와께서 애굽에서 너희를 위하여 너희의 목전에서 행하신 일이라//Or hath God assayed to go {and} take him a nation from the midst of {another} nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
(신 4:35) 이것을 네게 나타내심은 여호와는 하나님이시요 그 외에는 다른 신이 없음을 네게 알게 하려 하심이니라//Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he {is} God; {there is} none else beside him.
(신 4:36) 여호와께서 너를 교훈하시려고 하늘에서부터 그의 음성을 네게 듣게 하시며 땅에서는 그의 큰 불을 네게 보이시고 네가 불 가운데서 나오는 그의 말씀을 듣게 하셨느니라//Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
(신 4:37) 여호와께서 네 조상들을 사랑하신 고로 그 후손인 너를 택하시고 큰 권능으로 친히 인도하여 애굽에서 나오게 하시며//And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
(신 4:38) 너보다 강대한 여러 민족을 네 앞에서 쫓아내고 너를 그들의 땅으로 인도하여 들여서 그것을 네게 기업으로 주려 하심이 오늘과 같으니라//To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou {art}, to bring thee in, to give thee their land {for} an inheritance, as {it is} this day.
(신 4:39) 그런즉 너는 오늘 위로 하늘에나 아래로 땅에 오직 여호와는 하나님이시요 다른 신이 없는 줄을 알아 명심하고//Know therefore this day, and consider {it} in thine heart, that the Lord he {is} God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: {there is} none else.
(신 4:40) 오늘 내가 네게 명령하는 여호와의 규례와 명령을 지키라 너와 네 후손이 복을 받아 네 하나님 여호와께서 네게 주시는 땅에서 한 없이 오래 살리라//Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong {thy} days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, for ever.
(요절 : 신명기 4:40) 여호와의 규례와 명령을 지키라 너와 네 후손이 … 한 없이 오래 살리라//Keep His statutes and His commandments . . . that it may go well with you and with your children after you.
“God never threatens; the devil never warns,” declared Oswald Chambers. We sometimes use the words threat and warning interchangeably, but Chambers saw a principle that suggests a distinction. Threats are used to get people to do what is in our best interest. Warnings are issued to get people to do what is in their best interest. In other words, threats seek to preserve power, whereas warnings serve to protect people from danger.
"하나님은 결코 위협하지 않으시며, 마귀는 결코 경고하지 않는다"고 Oswald Chambers가 선언했다. 우리는 위협과 경고라는 단어를 구별 없이 사용하는데, Chambers는 차이점을 제시하는 원리를 알았다. 위협이라는 단어는 사람들로 하여금 우리가 가장 관심 있는 것을 하게 하는 데에 사용된다. 경고는 사람들로 하여금 그들이 가장 관심 있는 것을 하게 하는 데서 비롯된다. 다시 말해서, 위협은 힘을 보호하고자 하는 반면, 경고는 사람들을 위험으로부터 보호하게 해 준다.
Satan wants us to think of God’s loving warnings as mean-spirited threats, but he is wrong. According to Chambers, “A warning is a great arresting statement of God’s, inspired by His love and patience.” The evidence of this is found in the many commands that are coupled with phrases like “that it may go well with you” (Deut. 4:40; 12:28).

In loving relationships, people warn one another of the inevitable consequences of foolish behavior. In unhealthy relationships, people threaten one another with punishment if they fail to live up to unreasonable demands.
사람들이 서로 사랑할 때는, 상대방이 바보같은 행동을 하면 그로 인해 피할 수 없는 결과를 서로 경고해 준다. 건전하지 못한 관계에 있을 때는, 비이성적인 요구를 따라주지 않을 경우 상대방을 벌하는 것으로 위협한다.
As we interact with others, it’s good to consider the nature of our counsel and commands. Do we use ultimatums to preserve our own well-being? Or do we lovingly warn others to keep them from harm?
우리가 다른 사람을 상대할 때, 조언을 하거나 명령하는 경우 그것의 특징을 숙고해 보는 것이 좋다. 우리의 웰빙을 보존하기 위해 극단적인 말을 사용하는가? 아니면 그들을 위험으로부터 지켜주기 위해 사랑스런 경고를 해 주는가?
