용기: 뒤지지 말고 따라잡아라 2008-02-19(화) Courage: Live It
본문 : 디모데후서 1:6-12(2 Timothy 1:6-12)
(딤후 1:6) 그러므로 내가 나의 안수함으로 네 속에 있는 하나님의 은사를 다시 불일듯 하게 하기 위하여 너로 생각하게 하노니//Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
(딤후 1:7) 하나님이 우리에게 주신 것은 두려워하는 마음이 아니요 오직 능력과 사랑과 절제하는 마음이니//For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
(딤후 1:8) 그러므로 너는 내가 우리 주를 증언함과 또는 주를 위하여 갇힌 자 된 나를 부끄러워하지 말고 오직 하나님의 능력을 따라 복음과 함께 고난을 받으라//Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
(딤후 1:9) 하나님이 우리를 구원하사 거룩하신 소명으로 부르심은 우리의 행위대로 하심이 아니요 오직 자기의 뜻과 영원 전부터 그리스도 예수 안에서 우리에게 주신 은혜대로 하심이라//Who hath saved us, and called {us} with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
(딤후 1:10) 이제는 우리 구주 그리스도 예수의 나타나심으로 말미암아 나타났으니 그는 사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신지라//But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
(딤후 1:11) 내가 이 복음을 위하여 선포자와 사도와 교사로 세우심을 입었노라//Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
(딤후 1:12) 이로 말미암아 내가 또 이 고난을 받되 부끄러워하지 아니함은 내가 믿는 자를 내가 알고 또한 내가 의탁한 것을 그 날까지 그가 능히 지키실 줄을 확신함이라//For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
(요절 : 디모데후서 1:7) 하나님이 우리에게 주신 것은 두려워하는 마음이 아니요 오직 능력과 사랑과 절제하는 마음이니//God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power.
Courage is one thing you need if you want to get God’s work done. That’s what I said when I spoke in a church service in Jamaica. I told the people that according to 2 Timothy 1:7, God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power.
하나님의 일이 이루어지기를 원한다면 당신에게 필요한 것 중의 하나가 용기이다. 자마이카에서 교회 예배 중에 그것을 말했었다. 디모데후서 1:7에 따르면, 하나님은 우리에게 수줍음을 주시지 않고 능력의 마음을 주셨다고 내가 사람들에게 말했다.
A couple of days later, I stood 35 feet above the water on the edge of the Caribbean Sea. Should I jump off the precipice into the waters below? The teenagers who were with me said, “Yes!” Most of them had already done so. One told me, “Mr. Branon, if you don’t jump, you can’t preach about courage again.” I knew that sometimes the courageous thing is not to go along with the crowd. But this time, I jumped.
몇 일 뒤에 나는 카리브해안 위로 35피트 되는 곳에 섰다. 나는 절벽에서 뛰어 아래에 있는 물로 떨어져야 하는가? 나와 함께 있던 십대들은 "예!"라고 말했다. 그들 대부분은 이미 그렇게 했다. 한 명이 내게 말했다. "브래논씨, 당신이 뛰지 않는다면 다시는 용기에 관해 설교할 수 없습니다." 때로는 다수를 따르지 않는 것이 용기 있는 일인 경우도 있다는 것을 안다. 그러나 이번에는 뛰었다.
Courage makes a good theory, but sometimes we need help to practice it. We have many opportunities to step out of our comfort zone to serve God. When we don’t have courage, we need to be reminded of God’s promise in 2 Timothy, and we need others’ encouragement to take the leap.
용기는 좋은 이론을 만든다. 그러나 때로는 그것을 실행하기 위한 도움을 필요로 한다. 하나님을 섬기기 위해 우리의 안락한 영역에서 벗어 나와야 할 경우가 많다. 우리에게 용기가 없다면, 디모데후서에서 하나님이 약속한 것을 기억할 필요가 있다. 또한 우리가 도약하기 위해서 다른 사람의 격려가 필요하다.
Perhaps you need someone to tell you: Volunteer for that job at church - they need you. Have lunch with your co-worker to discuss matters of faith. Or join that small group.
당신은 누군가 당신에게 말해줄 사람이 필요할지도 모른다. 교회에서 그 일을 위한 자원봉사자 - 그들이 당신을 필요로 한다. 믿음의 문제를 의논하기 위한 동역자와 점심 식사를 같이 하라. 아니면 소그룹에 참여하라.

While I am walking with You here below.//어떤 적과도 맞설 수 있는 믿음을 가질 수 있습니다.

Courage will follow when faith takes the lead.//믿음이 앞설 때에 용기가 따라올 것입니다. 두려움은 하나님이 주시는 것이 아니라 했습니다. 자존심이나 쓸데없는 의협심은 전혀 필요 없는 것이지만, 믿음으로 인한 용기는 반드시 필요합니다. 하나님의 영광을 위해 무언가를 하고자 할 때 우리를 가로막는 두려움은 얼마든지 물리칠 수 있습니다. 하나님이 우리에게 힘(power)을 주시니까.
