본문 : 히브리서 8:1-13(Hebrew 8:1-13)
(히 8:1) 이제 하는 말의 중요한 것은 이러한 대제사장이 우리에게 있는 것이라 그가 하늘에서 위엄의 보좌 우편에 앉으셨으니//Now of the things which we have spoken {this is} the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
(히 8:2) 성소와 참 장막에 부리는 자라 이 장막은 주께서 베푸신 것이요 사람이 한 것이 아니니라//A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
(히 8:3) 대제사장마다 예물과 제사 드림을 위하여 세운 자니 이러므로 저도 무슨 드릴 것이 있어야 할지니라//For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore {it is} of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
(히 8:4) 예수께서 만일 땅에 계셨더면 제사장이 되지 아니하셨을 것이니 이는 율법을 좇아 예물을 드리는 제사장이 있음이라//For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
(히 8:5) 저희가 섬기는 것은 하늘에 있는 것의 모형과 그림자라 모세가 장막을 지으려 할 때에 지시하심을 얻음과 같으니 가라사대 삼가 모든 것을 산에서 네게 보이던 본을 좇아 지으라 하셨느니라//Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, {that} thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.
(히 8:6) 그러나 이제 그가 더 아름다운 직분을 얻으셨으니 이는 더 좋은 약속으로 세우신 더 좋은 언약의 중보시라//But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
(히 8:7) 저 첫 언약이 무흠하였더면 둘째 것을 요구할 일이 없었으려니와//For if that first {covenant} had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
(히 8:8) 저희를 허물하여 일렀으되 주께서 가라사대 볼지어다 날이 이르리니 내가 이스라엘 집과 유다 집으로 새 언약을 세우리라//For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
(히 8:9) 또 주께서 가라사대 내가 저희 열조들의 손을 잡고 애굽 땅에서 인도하여 내던 날에 저희와 세운 언약과 같지 아니하도다 저희는 내 언약 안에 머물러 있지 아니하므로 내가 저희를 돌아보지 아니하였노라//Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
(히 8:10) 또 주께서 가라사대 그 날 후에 내가 이스라엘 집으로 세울 언약이 이것이니 내 법을 저희 생각에 두고 저희 마음에 이것을 기록하리라 나는 저희에게 하나님이 되고 저희는 내게 백성이 되리라//For this {is} the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
(히 8:11) 또 각각 자기 나라 사람과 각각 자기 형제를 가르쳐 이르기를 주를 알라 하지 아니할 것은 저희가 작은 자로부터 큰 자까지 다 나를 앎이니라//And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
(히 8:12) 내가 저희 불의를 긍휼히 여기고 저희 죄를 다시 기억하지 아니 하리라 하셨느니라//For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
(히 8:13) 새 언약이라 말씀하셨으매 첫 것은 낡아지게 하신 것이니 낡아지고 쇠하는 것은 없어져 가는 것이니라//In that he saith, A new {covenant}, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old {is} ready to vanish away.
(요절 : 히브리서 8:12) 저희 죄를 다시 기억하지 아니 하리라//their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
God longs to forgive sinners! But in the minds of many people, this thought seems too good to be true. Countless sermons have been preached to convince guilt-ridden individuals that it is true. Many of these sermons emphasize that God not only forgives the sinner but also forgets the sin. I've often said it myself, never doubting its soundness.
하나님은 죄인들을 용서하기 원하신다! 그러나 많은 사람들의 마음 속에서는, 이 생각이 너무나 좋아서 믿지 못하는 것 같다. 죄에 사로잡힌 사람들에게 그것이 사실이라고 확신시키는 설교가 수없이 많이 행해졌다. 많은 설교들이, 하나님은 죄인들을 용서하실 뿐 아니라 죄를 잊으신다고 강조한다. 나는 종종 이 생각의 건전함을 의심하지 말자고 속으로 되뇌어 왔다.
Then one Sunday I heard a sermon that revolutionized my thinking. The speaker caught my attention when he said, "The idea that God forgets my sins isn't very reassuring to me. After all, what if He suddenly remembered? In any case, only imperfection can forget, and God is perfect."
그러던 어느 주일날, 내 생각에 변혁을 일으키는 설교를 들었다. 연사가 다음의 말을 할 때 내 주의를 끌었다. "하나님이 나의 죄들을 잊으신다는 개념은 나에게 그리 위안을 주지 않습니다. 나중에 가서 그분이 갑자기 기억해 내신다면 어쩔 것인가? 어떤 경우이든 불완전한 존재만이 잊을 수 있는데 하나님은 완전하신 분이시다."
As I was questioning the biblical basis for such statements, the pastor read Hebrews 8:12, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." Then he said, "God doesn't say He'll forget our sins - He says He'll remember them no more! His promise not to remember them ever again is stronger than saying He'll forget them. Now that reassures me!"
그러한 주장의 성경적 근거에 대해 의심하고 있을 때 그 목사는 히브리서 8:12을 읽어주었다. "저희 죄를 다시 기억하지 아니 하리라." 그리고는 이렇게 말했다. "하나님은 우리 죄들을 잊으시겠다고 말씀하지 않습니다. 그분은 그것들을 기억하지 않으신다고 말씀하십니다! 그것들을 다시는 기억하지 않으신다는 그분의 약속은 잊어버리겠다고 말씀하시는 것보다 더 강력하다. 이제는 그것이 나를 안심시킵니다."
Do you worry that there are certain sins you'll be punished for someday? Because Christ died for all our sins(1 Cor. 15:3), God promises to forgive us and never bring up our sin again(Ps. 103:12). - Joanie Yoder -

Said in justice and in grace//정의 안에서 그리고 은혜 안에서 말씀하셨다.
That our sins He'll not remember,//그분이 우리의 죄를 기억하지 않으시고
And our fears He will erase.//우리의 두려움을 없애주시겠다고.
