본문 : 고린도전서 15:51-58(1 Cor. 15:51-58)
(고전 15:51) 보라 내가 너희에게 비밀을 말하노니 우리가 다 잠잘 것이 아니요 마지막 나팔에 순식간에 홀연히 다 변화하리니//Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(고전 15:52) 나팔 소리가 나매 죽은 자들이 썩지 아니할 것으로 다시 살고 우리도 변화하리라//In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(고전 15:53) 이 썩을 것이 불가불 썩지 아니할 것을 입겠고 이 죽을 것이 죽지 아니함을 입으리로다//For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal {must} put on immortality.
(고전 15:54) 이 썩을 것이 썩지 아니함을 입고 이 죽을 것이 죽지 아니함을 입을 때에는 사망이 이김의 삼킨바 되리라고 기록된 말씀이 응하리라//So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
(고전 15:55) 사망아 너의 이기는 것이 어디 있느냐 사망아 너의 쏘는 것이 어디 있느냐//O death, where {is} thy sting? O grave, where {is} thy victory?
(고전 15:56) 사망의 쏘는 것은 죄요 죄의 권능은 율법이라//The sting of death {is} sin; and the strength of sin {is} the law.
(고전 15:57) 우리 주 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 우리에게 이김을 주시는 하나님께 감사하노니//But thanks {be} to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(고전 15:58) 그러므로 내 사랑하는 형제들아 견고하며 흔들리지 말며 항상 주의 일에 더욱 힘쓰는 자들이 되라 이는 너희 수고가 주 안에서 헛되지 않은 줄을 앎이니라//Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
(요절 : 디모데후서 1:10) 우리 구주 그리스도 예수 … 는 사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신지라//our Saviour Jesus Christ … abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:
The opening line of a country song, "Sarabeth is scared to death …," leads the listener into the fearful heart of a teenage girl who is diagnosed with cancer. The lyrics of "Skin(Sarabeth)" expose the struggles she faces, not only with the disease and its treatment but also with the obvious evidence of her struggle - the loss of her hair(hence, the title). It is a touching song of triumph in the midst of tragedy, as Sarabeth deals with the understandable life-and-death fears that cancer brings.
우리가 부르는 컨추리송 중에 "Sarabeth는 죽음을 두려워하네 …"라는 노래는 듣는 이로 하여금 암으로 진단 받은 십대 소녀의 두려운 마음을 공감하게 한다. "Skin(Sarabeth)"의 가사는 그녀가 직면한 투쟁을 드러내는데, 거기에는 질병과 그에 대한 처치뿐 아니라, 그녀의 투쟁에 대한 분명한 증거인 머리카락이 빠지는 것(따라서 직책을 잃는 것)을 포함한다.
The specter of death is faced by every human being. Yet, whether we face that reality with fear or with confidence is not dependent on having a good outlook or a positive attitude. The way we face death depends completely on whether or not we have a personal relationship with Jesus, who gave Himself to die so that death itself could be abolished.
모든 인간은 죽음에 대한 망령을 직면한다. 그러나 그 실체를 두려움으로 대하는가 혹은 자신 있게 대하는가 하는 것은 외모가 좋다거나 적극적인 자세를 가진 것 등에 달려있지 않다. 죽음에 직면하는 방식은, 우리가 예수님과 개인적인 관계를 가지고 있느냐 그렇지 않으냐에 달려있다. 그분은 자신이 죽음으로써 사망 자체를 폐지하신 분이시다.
Paul wrote to Timothy that our Savior was the One who "abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel"(2 Tim. 1:10). The result is that even in the most disturbing time of life, we never need to be scared to death.
바울은 디모데에게 편지하기를, 우리 구주는 "사망을 폐하시고 복음으로써 생명과 썩지 아니할 것을 드러내신" 분이라고 했다(딤후 1:10). 그 결과는, 우리가 아무리 힘든 시기를 만나더라도 절대로 죽음을 두려워할 필요가 없다는 것이다.
