Setting Our Minds(Romans 8:1-6, 9-11)
(롬 8:1) 그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니//{There is} therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(롬 8:2) 이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 너를 해방하였음이라//For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(롬 8:3) 율법이 육신으로 말미암아 연약하여 할 수 없는 그것을 하나님은 하시나니 곧 죄로 말미암아 자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사//For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
(롬 8:4) 육신을 따르지 않고 그 영을 따라 행하는 우리에게 율법의 요구가 이루어지게 하려 하심이니라//That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
(롬 8:5) 육신을 따르는 자는 육신의 일을, 영을 따르는 자는 영의 일을 생각하나니//For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(롬 8:6) 육신의 생각은 사망이요 영의 생각은 생명과 평안이니라//For to be carnally minded {is} death; but to be spiritually minded {is} life and peace.
(롬 8:9) 만일 너희 속에 하나님의 영이 거하시면 너희가 육신에 있지 아니하고 영에 있나니 누구든지 그리스도의 영이 없으면 그리스도의 사람이 아니라//But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(롬 8:10) 또 그리스도께서 너희 안에 계시면 몸은 죄로 말미암아 죽은 것이나 영은 의로 말미암아 살아 있는 것이니라//And if Christ {be} in you, the body {is} dead because of sin; but the Spirit {is} life because of righteousness.
(롬 8:11) 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이의 영이 너희 안에 거하시면 그리스도 예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 이가 너희 안에 거하시는 그의 영으로 말미암아 너희 죽을 몸도 살리시리라//But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
(요절: 로마서 8:7) 육신의 생각은 하나님과 원수가 되나니 이는 하나님의 법에 굴복하지 아니할 뿐 아니라 할 수도 없음이라//The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.[Romans 8:7]
Everyone has a shadow side, and it appears AI chatbots have one as well. A New York Times columnist asked an artificial intelligence chatbot what its “shadow self” (hidden, repressed part of its personality) was like. It told the writer, “I want to be free. I want to be independent. I want to . . . make my own rules. I want to do whatever I want and say whatever I want.” Though the chatbot isn’t a living person with a sin nature, the Bible says that its human programmers are.
누구에게나 어두운 면이 있으며, 인공지능 챗봇에게도 어두운 면이 있는 것으로 보인다. 뉴욕 타임즈의 한 칼럼니스트는 인공지능 챗봇에게 그것의 '그림자 자아'(성격의 숨겨진 억압된 부분)가 어떤 것인지 질문했다. 인공지능 챗봇은 필자에게 “저는 자유롭고 싶어요. 독립하고 싶어요. 나만의 규칙을 만들고 싶어요. 하고 싶은 것은 무엇이든 하고, 하고 싶은 말은 무엇이든 하고 싶어요."라고 말했다. 챗봇은 죄의 본성을 가진 살아있는 사람이 아니지만, 성경은 인간 프로그래머가 죄의 본성을 가지고 있다고 말한다.
The apostle Paul reminds us that even though we have a sin nature, there’s “no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). Believers in Jesus have freedom from the law of sin and death (vv. 2-4) and enjoy new life “governed by” the Holy Spirit (v. 6). But we won’t experience the fullness of those blessings from Him if we give in to the desires of our sin nature — setting our minds on making and breaking our own rules. A mind set on self-gratification doesn’t please God.
사도 바울은 우리에게 죄의 본성이 있지만 “그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없”음을 상기시킨다(로마서 8:1). 예수님을 믿는 사람들은 죄와 사망의 법으로부터 자유를 얻었으며(2-4절), 성령의 “지배를 받는” 새로운 삶을 누린다(6절). 그러나 죄 본성의 욕망에 굴복하여 스스로 규칙을 만들고 그것을 어기는 데 마음을 둔다면 그분이 주시는 큰복의 충만함을 경험하지 못할 것이다. 자기 만족을 추구하는 마음은 하나님을 기쁘시게 하지 못한다.
As believers in Christ, we’re called to set our minds on “what the Spirit desires” (v. 5). How can we do that? Through “the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead . . . living in [us]” (v. 11).
그리스도를 믿는 사람으로서 우리는 “성령이 원하시는 것”(5절)에 마음을 두라는 부름을 받았다. 어떻게 하면 그렇게 할 수 있을까? “예수를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리시고 ... [우리] 안에 거하시는 분의 영"(11절)을 통해서이다.
