JESUS’ ULTIMATE VICTORY(2 CHRONICLES 20:15–22)
(대하 20:15) 야하시엘이 이르되 온 유다와 예루살렘 주민과 여호사밧 왕이여 들을지어다 여호와께서 이같이 너희에게 말씀하시기를 너희는 이 큰 무리로 말미암아 두려워하거나 놀라지 말라 이 전쟁은 너희에게 속한 것이 아니요 하나님께 속한 것이니라//And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle {is} not yours, but God's.
(대하 20:16) 내일 너희는 그들에게로 내려가라 그들이 시스 고개로 올라올 때에 너희가 골짜기 어귀 여루엘 들 앞에서 그들을 만나려니와//To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
(대하 20:17) 이 전쟁에는 너희가 싸울 것이 없나니 대열을 이루고 서서 너희와 함께 한 여호와가 구원하는 것을 보라 유다와 예루살렘아 너희는 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말고 내일 그들을 맞서 나가라 여호와가 너희와 함께 하리라 하셨느니라 하매//Ye shall not {need} to fight in this {battle}: set yourselves, stand ye {still}, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord {will be} with you.
(대하 20:18) 여호사밧이 몸을 굽혀 얼굴을 땅에 대니 온 유다와 예루살렘 주민들도 여호와 앞에 엎드려 여호와께 경배하고//And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with {his} face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.
(대하 20:19) 그핫 자손과 고라 자손에게 속한 레위 사람들은 서서 심히 큰 소리로 이스라엘 하나님 여호와를 찬송하니라//And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
(대하 20:20) 이에 백성들이 아침에 일찍이 일어나서 드고아 들로 나가니라 나갈 때에 여호사밧이 서서 이르되 유다와 예루살렘 주민들아 내 말을 들을지어다 너희는 너희 하나님 여호와를 신뢰하라 그리하면 견고히 서리라 그의 선지자들을 신뢰하라 그리하면 형통하리라 하고//And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
(대하 20:21) 백성과 더불어 의논하고 노래하는 자들을 택하여 거룩한 예복을 입히고 군대 앞에서 행진하며 여호와를 찬송하여 이르기를 여호와께 감사하세 그의 인자하심이 영원하도다 하게 하였더니//And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy {endureth} for ever.
(대하 20:22) 그 노래와 찬송이 시작될 때에 여호와께서 복병을 두어 유다를 치러 온 암몬 자손과 모압과 세일 산 주민들을 치게 하시므로 그들이 패하였으니//And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

At some military camps across Europe during World War II, an unusual type of supply was air-dropped for homesick soldiers - upright pianos. They were specially manufactured to contain only ten percent of the normal amount of metal, and they received special water-resistant glue and anti-insect treatments. The pianos were rugged and simple but provided hours of spirit-lifting entertainment for soldiers who gathered around to sing familiar songs of home.
제2차 세계대전 중 유럽에 있는 일부 미군 부대에 고향을 그리워하는 군인들을 위해 특별한 보급품인 피아노가 공중 낙하되었다. 그 피아노는 특별히 제작되어 보통보다 10퍼센트의 금속만 써서 만들었고, 특별한 방수 접착제와 방충 처리를 한 것이었다. 피아노는 투박하고 단순했지만, 모여서 익숙한 고향 노래를 부르는 군인들에게 활력을 북돋아 주는 시간을 제공해 주었다.
Singing - especially songs of praise - is one way that believers in Jesus can find peace in the battle too. King Jehoshaphat found this to be true when he faced vast invading armies (2 CHRONICLES 20). Terrified, the king called all the people together for prayer and fasting (VV. 3–4). In response, God told him to lead out soldiers to meet the enemy, promising that they’d “not have to fight this battle” (V. 17). Jehoshaphat believed God and acted in faith. He appointed singers to go ahead of the soldiers and sing praise to God for the victory they believed they would see (V. 21). And as their music began, He miraculously defeated their enemies and saved His people (V. 22).
노래, 특히 찬양은 예수님을 믿는 사람들이 전투 중에도 평안을 얻을 수 있는 한 방법이다. 여호사밧 왕은 엄청난 규모의 침략군과 맞섰을 때 그것이 사실이라는 것을 알았다(역대하 20장). 겁에 질린 왕은 모든 사람을 불러 모아 기도와 금식을 하게 했다(3-4절). 그러자 하나님은 그에게 군사들을 데리고 적군에 맞서라고 하시면서, “이 전쟁에는 너희가 싸울 것이 없다”(17 절)고 약속하셨다. 여호사밧은 하나님을 믿고 믿음으로 행했다. 그는 노래하는 자들을 택하여 군사들보다 앞서게 하고, 그들이 보게 될 승리를 믿고 하나님을 찬양하게 했다(21절). 그리고 그들의 노래가 시작되자 하나님은 기적 같이 적군을 물리치시고 자기 백성들을 구원해 주셨다(22절).
Victory doesn’t always come when and how we want it to. But we can always proclaim Jesus’ ultimate victory over sin and death that’s already been won for us. We can choose to rest in a spirit of worship even in the middle of a war zone. KAREN PIMPO
언제나 우리가 원하는 때와 방식으로 승리를 얻을 수는 없다. 그러나 우리는 죄와 사망을 이기신 예수님의 최후의 승리를 언제나 선포할 수 있다. 그 승리는 우리를 위해 이미 이긴 승리이다. 그래서 우리는 전쟁터 한가운데서도 예배하는 마음으로 안식할 수 있다.
How can you praise God right where you are today? How can you press into the victory that Jesus has won for you?
바로 지금 있는 곳에서 어떻게 하나님을 찬양할 수 있을까요? 예수님이 당신을 위해 이미 이기신 승리를 어떻게 계속 유지해 나갈 수 있을까요?
You’re stronger than my enemies, dear God. I lift up Your name in faith today.//사랑의 하나님, 하나님은 나의 적들보다 더 강하십니다. 오늘 믿음으로 하나님의 이름을 높입니다. 궁극적인 승리를 이루어 놓으신 주 예수님을 의지하여 인생을 담대하게 살아가게 하소서. 나보다 나를 더 잘 아시는 주님을 모든 순간에 의지하게 하소서.
