DESTRUCTION DESTROYED(GENESIS 3:1–10)
(창 3:1) 그런데 뱀은 여호와 하나님이 지으신 들짐승 중에 가장 간교하니라 뱀이 여자에게 물어 이르되 하나님이 참으로 너희에게 동산 모든 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라 하시더냐//Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
(창 3:2) 여자가 뱀에게 말하되 동산 나무의 열매를 우리가 먹을 수 있으나//And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
(창 3:3) 동산 중앙에 있는 나무의 열매는 하나님의 말씀에 너희는 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라 너희가 죽을까 하노라 하셨느니라//But of the fruit of the tree which {is} in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
(창 3:4) 뱀이 여자에게 이르되 너희가 결코 죽지 아니하리라//And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
(창 3:5) 너희가 그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져 하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄 하나님이 아심이니라//For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
(창 3:6) 여자가 그 나무를 본즉 먹음직도 하고 보암직도 하고 지혜롭게 할 만큼 탐스럽기도 한 나무인지라 여자가 그 열매를 따먹고 자기와 함께 있는 남편에게도 주매 그도 먹은지라//And when the woman saw that the tree {was} good for food, and that it {was} pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make {one} wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
(창 3:7) 이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져 자기들이 벗은 줄을 알고 무화과나무 잎을 엮어 치마로 삼았더라//And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they {were} naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
(창 3:8) 그들이 그 날 바람이 불 때 동산에 거니시는 여호와 하나님의 소리를 듣고 아담과 그의 아내가 여호와 하나님의 낯을 피하여 동산 나무 사이에 숨은지라//And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
(창 3:9) 여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐//And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where {art} thou?
(창 3:10) 이르되 내가 동산에서 하나님의 소리를 듣고 내가 벗었으므로 두려워하여 숨었나이다//And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I {was} naked; and I hid myself.
(요절: 창세기 3:9) 여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐//The Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” [GENESIS 3:9]
“The baby birds will fly tomorrow!” My wife, Cari, was elated about the progress a family of wrens was making in a hanging basket on our front porch. She’d watched them daily, taking pictures as the mother brought food to the nest.
“내일이면 새끼들이 날 수 있을 것 같아요!” 아내 캐리는 집 앞 현관에 걸려 있는 바구니 둥지에서 굴뚝새 가족의 성장을 지켜보며 기뻐했다. 아내는 매일 그 새들을 지켜보며 어미새가 둥지로 먹이를 물어올 때 사진을 찍었다.
Cari got up early the next morning to look in on them. She moved some of the greenery aside covering the nest but instead of seeing baby birds, the narrow eyes of a serpent met hers. The snake had scaled a vertical wall, slithered into the nest, and devoured them all.
아내는 다음날 그 어린 새끼들을 보려고 아침 일찍 일어났다. 둥지를 덮은 풀들을 치우며 새끼들을 보려고 했지만, 오히려 가는 눈의 뱀과 마주쳤다. 뱀이 수직 벽을 기어올라 둥지 안으로 미끄러져 들어가서 새끼들을 모두 삼켜버린 것이다.
Cari was heartbroken and angry. I was out of town, so she called a friend to remove the snake. But the damage was done.
캐리는 마음이 아프고 화가 났다. 내가 출장 중이어서 아내는 친구를 불러 뱀을 없애 버렸다. 그러나 이미 피해를 본 후였다.
Scripture tells of another serpent who left destruction in his path. The serpent in the garden of Eden deceived Eve about the tree God had warned her against eating from: “You will not certainly die,” he lied, “for God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (GENESIS 3:4–5).
성경은 그의 길을 가며 파괴를 일삼는 또 다른 뱀에 대해 이야기한다. 에덴동산의 뱀은 하나님이 먹지 말라고 경고한 나무에 대해 하와를 속였다. “너희가 결코 죽지 아니하리라 너희가 그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져 하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄 하나님이 아심이니라”(창세기 3:4-5).
Sin and death entered the world as a result of Eve and Adam’s disobedience to God, and the deception wrought by “that ancient serpent, who is the devil” continues (REVELATION 20:2). But Jesus came “to destroy the devil’s work” (1 JOHN 3:8), and through Him we’re restored to relationship with God. One day, He’ll make “everything new” (REVELATION 21:5). JAMES BANKS
하와와 아담의 불순종의 결과로 죄와 죽음이 이 세상에 들어왔으며, “옛 뱀이요 마귀”가 꾸민 속임수는 지금도 계속되고 있다(요한계시록 20:2). 그러나 예수님은 “마귀의 일을 멸하려” 오셨고(요한1서 3:8), 주님을 통해 우리와 하나님과의 관계가 회복되었다. 그리고 언젠가 주님께서 “만물을 새롭게” 하실 것이다(요한계시록 21:5).

예수님은 당신의 마음과 삶에서 마귀가 일하는 것을 어떻게 멸하셨습니까? 당신은 주님 안에서 기대하는 것은 무엇입니까?
Please deliver me, Jesus, from the devil’s deception. Saving God, give me grace to live for You!//예수님, 마귀의 속임수에서 저를 구해 주소서. 구원의 하나님, 주님을 위해 살도록 은혜를 베풀어 주소서. 마귀의 조그만 속임수에도 절대로 속지 않도록 늘 성령으로 충만하여 깨어 있게 하소서. 주님의 말씀을 추호도 의심하지 않고 일점일획이라도 다르게 생각하거나 말하지 않게 하소서.
