본문 : 누가복음 15:4-7(Luke 15:4-7)
(눅 15:4) 너희 중에 어느 사람이 양 일백 마리가 있는데 그 중에 하나를 잃으면 아흔 아홉 마리를 들에 두고 그 잃은 것을 찾도록 찾아다니지 아니하느냐//What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
(눅 15:5) 또 찾은즉 즐거워 어깨에 메고//And when he hath found {it}, he layeth {it} on his shoulders, rejoicing.
(눅 15:6) 집에 와서 그 벗과 이웃을 불러 모으고 말하되 나와 함께 즐기자 나의 잃은 양을 찾았노라 하리라//And when he cometh home, he calleth together {his} friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
(눅 15:7) 내가 너희에게 이르노니 이와 같이 죄인 하나가 회개하면 하늘에서는 회개할 것 없는 의인 아흔 아홉을 인하여 기뻐하는 것보다 더하리라//I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

I dreaded the idea of attending a memorial service for an old friend. Fred had rejected the need for Jesus in his life, and because of that I was sure he was lost forever.
나는 오래된 친구의 추도식에 참석할 것을 생각하면 걱정이 되었다. Fred는 그의 삶 가운데 예수님에 대한 필요를 거절했으므로, 영원히 잃은 자가 될 것을 확신했다.
Yet Fred's many friendship had included followers of Jesus. At the service, as one of those friends spoke of a conversation he had in Fred's last months, my eyes filled with tears.
그런데 Fred의 많은 친구 중에는 예수님의 제자들이 있었다. 예배 시간에, 그들 친구 중의 한 사람이 지난달에 Fred와 나누었던 대화를 말했을 때, 내 눈은 눈물로 가득 찼다.
Fred had asked him, "Do you think I'll go to heaven?" The friend had honestly replied, "No, Fred. I don't think so." As they talked, Fred's wall of resistance began to fall, and he said, "Philip, I believe that what the Bible says is true." After a lifetime of rejecting the free gift of salvation, Fred finally accepted Jesus as his Savior.
Fred가 그에게 물었다. "넌 내가 천국에 갈 것이라고 생각하니?" 그 친구는 정직하게 대답했다. "아냐, 프레드야, 나는 그렇게 생각하지 않아." 그들이 대화를 나눌 때, Fred의 저항의 벽이 무너지기 시작했으며, 그는 이렇게 말했다. "필립, 나는 성경이 말하는 것이 사실임을 믿네." Fred는 평생동안 거저 주는 구원의 선물을 거절하다가 마침내 예수님을 그의 구세주로 영접했다.
With happy tears, I thought about the verse: "There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance"(Luke 15:7). Jesus and the angels were rejoicing with me.
행복한 눈물을 흘리며 다음 구절을 생각했다. "죄인 하나가 회개하면 하늘에서는 회개할 것 없는 의인 아흔 아홉을 인하여 기뻐하는 것보다 더하리라"(누가복음 15:7). 예수님과 천사들이 나와 함께 기뻐한다.
As Fred had requested, we stood and sang, "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so!" To my friend, those familiar words had become a personal reality.
Fred가 요청했을 때 우리는 서서 노래했다. "예수님이 나를 사랑한다네, 이것을 내가 안다네, 성경이 그렇게 말해주니까!" 내 친구에게는 그 친밀한 말씀이 개인적인 실제가 되었다.
