본문 : 고린도후서 5:12-21(2 Corinthians 5:12-21)
(고후 5:12) 우리가 다시 너희에게 자천하는 것이 아니요 오직 우리로 말미암아 자랑할 기회를 너희에게 주어 마음으로 하지 않고 외모로 자랑하는 자들에게 대답하게 하려 하는 것이라//For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to {answer} them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
(고후 5:13) 우리가 만일 미쳤어도 하나님을 위한 것이요 정신이 온전하여도 너희를 위한 것이니//For whether we be beside ourselves, {it is} to God: or whether we be sober, {it is} for your cause.
(고후 5:14) 그리스도의 사랑이 우리를 강권하시는도다 우리가 생각하건대 한 사람이 모든 사람을 대신하여 죽었은즉 모든 사람이 죽은 것이라//For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
(고후 5:15) 그가 모든 사람을 대신하여 죽으심은 살아 있는 자들로 하여금 다시는 그들 자신을 위하여 살지 않고 오직 그들을 대신하여 죽었다가 다시 살아나신 이를 위하여 살게 하려 함이라//And {that} he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
(고후 5:16) 그러므로 우리가 이제부터는 어떤 사람도 육신을 따라 알지 아니하노라 비록 우리가 그리스도도 육신을 따라 알았으나 이제부터는 그같이 알지 아니하노라//Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we {him} no more.
(고후 5:17) 그런즉 누구든지 그리스도 안에 있으면 새로운 피조물이라 이전 것은 지나갔으니 보라 새 것이 되었도다//Therefore if any man {be} in Christ, {he is} a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
(고후 5:18) 모든 것이 하나님께로서 났으며 그가 그리스도로 말미암아 우리를 자기와 화목하게 하시고 또 우리에게 화목하게 하는 직분을 주셨으니//And all things {are} of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
(고후 5:19) 곧 하나님께서 그리스도 안에 계시사 세상을 자기와 화목하게 하시며 그들의 죄를 그들에게 돌리지 아니하시고 화목하게 하는 말씀을 우리에게 부탁하셨느니라//To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
(고후 5:20) 그러므로 우리가 그리스도를 대신하여 사신이 되어 하나님이 우리를 통하여 너희를 권면하시는 것 같이 그리스도를 대신하여 간청하노니 너희는 하나님과 화목하라//Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech {you} by us: we pray {you} in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
(고후 5:21) 하나님이 죄를 알지도 못하신 이를 우리를 대신하여 죄로 삼으신 것은 우리로 하여금 그 안에서 하나님의 의가 되게 하려 하심이라//For he hath made him {to be} sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
(요절 : 고린도후서 5:20) 그러므로 우리가 그리스도를 대신하여 사신이 되어//Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ.
Since my dad was a pastor, I got stuck with the label known to every pastor’s kid: PK. But, much to the congregation’s disappointment, the title didn’t stop me from being my mischievous little self. I can’t count the times I heard, “Little Joe, you’re the pastor’s son. You should be an example.” But I didn’t want to be an example! I was only 5 and wanted to have fun with my friends!
나의 아버지가 목사이셨기 때문에, 모든 목사의 아이들이 그렇듯이 나에게는 싫어도 따라다니는 별명이 있었다. 바로 PK(pastor’s kid, 목사 아들)라는 것이 그것이다. 그러나 많은 회중들에게는 실망스럽게도, 그 타이틀이 나의 장난기 어린 작은 자아를 멈추지는 못했다. 나는 "꼬마 Joe야, 너는 목사의 아들이잖니. 너는 본이 되어야 해"라는 말을 얼마나 많이 들었는지 모른다. 그러나 나는 본이 되기를 원하지 않았다! 그때 나는 단지 5살 되었고 내 친구들과 재미를 보고 싶었다!
Let’s face it, being an example is often about being different. But most of us don’t want to be different. We want people to like us, and the safest way to do that is to blend in. But following Christ has never been about blending in. Following Him means to be like Him, to respond to life and relate to people as He did. It’s a little risky and uncomfortable to be different. But that’s what being an “ambassador for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20) is all about - bringing the wonderful difference of your King to bear on the territory you’ve been assigned: your home, your office, your friendships. Representing the King is not just our calling; it’s a great honor.
본이 된다는 것은 종종 다르게 된다는 것임을 직시하자. 그러나 우리들 대부분은 다르게 되기를 원하지 않는다. 우리는 사람들이 우리를 좋아하기를 바라며, 그렇게 하는 가장 안전한 방법은 그들과 혼합되는 것이다. 그러나 그리스도를 따르는 것은 절대로 혼합되는 것이 아니다. 그분을 따르는 것은 그분과 닮는 것이다. 그래서 그분이 하셨듯이 인생에 반응하고 사람들과 관계를 맺는 것이다. 다르게 된다는 것은 약간 위험이 따르고 다소 불편하다. 그러나 그것이 바로 "그리스도의 사신"(고린도후서 5:20)이 되는 것의 전부이다. 다시 말해서, 당신의 왕의 놀라운 차이를 가지고 당신에게 지정된 영역, 즉, 당신의 가정, 사무실, 친구와의 관계 등에 드러내는 것이다. 왕을 드러내는 것은 단지 우리의 소명만이 아니라, 위대한 영광이다.
In retrospect, I can see how my antics as a PK reflected poorly on my dad. It’s motivating to remember that our non-Jesus attitudes and actions also reflect poorly on our King.
되돌아보면, PK로서 내가 저지른 이상한 행동들은 나의 아버지를 너무나 초라하게 반영했다는 것을 이제는 알 수 있다. 그것을 동기 삼아, 우리가 예수님을 모르는 것처럼 행동하는 것과 그런 자세 역시 우리의 왕을 초라하게 만든다는 것을 기억할 수 있다.
