본문 : 출애굽기 6:1-9(Exodus 6:1-9)
(출 6:1) 여호와께서 모세에게 이르시되 이제 내가 바로에게 하는 일을 네가 보리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 보내리라 강한 손으로 말미암아 바로가 그들을 그의 땅에서 쫓아내리라//Then the Lord said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
(출 6:2) 하나님이 모세에게 말씀하여 이르시되 나는 여호와이니라//And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I {am} the Lord:
(출 6:3) 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 전능의 하나님으로 나타났으나 나의 이름을 여호와로는 그들에게 알리지 아니하였고//And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by {the name of} God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.
(출 6:4) 가나안 땅 곧 그들이 거류하는 땅을 그들에게 주기로 그들과 언약하였더니//And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.
(출 6:5) 이제 애굽 사람이 종으로 삼은 이스라엘 자손의 신음 소리를 내가 듣고 나의 언약을 기억하노라//And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.
(출 6:6) 그러므로 이스라엘 자손에게 말하기를 나는 여호와라 내가 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼내며 그들의 노역에서 너희를 건지며 편 팔과 여러 큰 심판들로써 너희를 속량하여//Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I {am} the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
(출 6:7) 너희를 내 백성으로 삼고 나는 너희의 하나님이 되리니 나는 애굽 사람의 무거운 짐 밑에서 너희를 빼낸 너희의 하나님 여호와인 줄 너희가 알지라//And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I {am} the Lord your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
(출 6:8) 내가 아브라함과 이삭과 야곱에게 주기로 맹세한 땅으로 너희를 인도하고 그 땅을 너희에게 주어 기업을 삼게 하리라 나는 여호와라 하셨다 하라//And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I {am} the Lord.
(출 6:9) 모세가 이와 같이 이스라엘 자손에게 전하나 그들이 마음의 상함과 가혹한 노역으로 말미암아 모세의 말을 듣지 아니하였더라//And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.
(요절 : 마태복음 14:27) 예수께서 즉시 이르시되 안심하라 나니 두려워하지 말라/Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.
Scientists in the UK have calculated that the most depressing day of the year comes in the third week of January. Winter days are dark and cold, holiday excitement has worn off just as Christmas debts are coming due, and New Year’s resolutions have all been broken. The celebrations, gift-giving, and good intentions that once made us feel happy now press us down and leave us feeling hopeless.
영국의 과학자들이 계산을 해 보니까 일년 중 가장 침울한 날이 1월 셋째주였다. 겨울날들이 어둡고 추우며, 성탄절 휴일의 즐거움이 날아온 청구서로 인해 사라져 버리고, 새해에 세운 결심들이 모두 산산조각난다. 한때는 우리가 행복하게 느꼈던 축하들과 선물을 주는 일, 그리고 좋은 의도들이 이제는 우리를 찍어누르며 희망이 없는 것을 느끼게 한다.
Long ago in Egypt, the Hebrew people had high hopes that Moses would rescue them from slavery. But their hopes were dashed when Moses’ good intentions led to worse conditions for them. Instead of gaining freedom, the people were pressed even harder by slave drivers who demanded that they produce the same amount of bricks with fewer resources.
오래 전에 이집트에서, 히브리 사람들은 모세가 그들을 노예신분에서 구해내 주는 데에 높은 희망을 가졌었다. 그런데 모세의 좋은 의도가 그들에게 나쁜 조건으로 나타나자 그들의 희망이 의기소침해졌다. 자유를 얻는 대신에, 노예를 부리는 사람들이 재료를 덜 주고 그들로 하여금 똑 같은 양의 벽돌을 만들 것을 요구했기 때문에 사람들은 더 심한 압박을 받았다.
Moses cried out to the Lord, “Since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all” (Ex. 5:23). As Moses and the Hebrew people were about to learn, God’s rescue plans sometimes don’t kick in until all hope seems to be gone.
모세는 주님께 부르짖었다. "내가 바로에게 들어가서 주의 이름으로 말한 후로부터 그가 이 백성을 더 학대하며 주께서도 주의 백성을 구원하지 아니하시나이다"(출애굽기 5:23). 모세와 히브리 사람들이 이제 막 배우기 시작하듯이, 하나님의 구원 계획이 때로는 모든 희망이 사라지기까지는 시작되지 않는다.
