A New Heart in Christ(Ezekiel 11:14-21)
(겔 11:14) 여호와의 말씀이 내게 임하여 이르시되//Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
(겔 11:15) 인자야 예루살렘 주민이 네 형제 곧 네 형제와 친척과 온 이스라엘 족속을 향하여 이르기를 너희는 여호와에게서 멀리 떠나라 이 땅은 우리에게 주어 기업이 되게 하신 것이라 하였나니//Son of man, thy brethren, {even} thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, {are} they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the Lord: unto us is this land given in possession.
(겔 11:16) 그런즉 너는 말하기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 내가 비록 그들을 멀리 이방인 가운데로 쫓아내어 여러 나라에 흩었으나 그들이 도달한 나라들에서 내가 잠깐 그들에게 성소가 되리라 하셨다 하고//Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
(겔 11:17) 너는 또 말하기를 주 여호와의 말씀에 내가 너희를 만민 가운데에서 모으며 너희를 흩은 여러 나라 가운데에서 모아 내고 이스라엘 땅을 너희에게 주리라 하셨다 하라//Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord God; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
(겔 11:18) 그들이 그리로 가서 그 가운데의 모든 미운 물건과 모든 가증한 것을 제거하여 버릴지라//And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
(겔 11:19) 내가 그들에게 한 마음을 주고 그 속에 새 영을 주며 그 몸에서 돌 같은 마음을 제거하고 살처럼 부드러운 마음을 주어//And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
(겔 11:20) 내 율례를 따르며 내 규례를 지켜 행하게 하리니 그들은 내 백성이 되고 나는 그들의 하나님이 되리라//That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
(겔 11:21) 그러나 미운 것과 가증한 것을 마음으로 따르는 자는 내가 그 행위대로 그 머리에 갚으리라 나 주 여호와의 말이니라//But {as for them} whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord God.
(요절: 에스겔 11:19) 내가 ... 그 몸에서 돌 같은 마음을 제거하고 살처럼 부드러운 마음을 주어//I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.[Ezekiel 11:19]
Brock and Dennis were childhood friends, but as they grew up, Brock showed little interest in Dennis’ faith in Jesus. Dennis loved his friend and prayed for him because he knew the path he was going down was dark and depressing. In praying for Brock, Dennis adapted the words of the prophet Ezekiel: “Please God, remove from Brock a heart of stone and give him a heart of flesh” (see Ezekiel 11:19). He longed that Brock would walk in God’s way so he would flourish.
브록과 데니스는 어린 시절 친구였지만, 자라면서 브록은 데니스의 예수님 신앙에 거의 관심을 보이지 않았다. 데니스는 친구를 사랑했고 브록이 가는 길이 어둡고 우울한 길이라는 것을 알기에 그를 위해 기도했다. 데니스는 브록을 위해 기도하면서 에스겔 선지자의 말을 인용했다: “하나님, 브록에게서 돌 같은 마음을 제거하고 살 같은 마음을 주소서."(에스겔 11:19 참조). 그는 브록이 하나님의 길로 걸어가서 번영하기를 간절히 바랐다.
Ten years later, Dennis was still praying faithfully. Then he received a call from Brock: “I just gave my life to Jesus!” Dennis rejoiced, tears brimming, to hear his friend exclaim that he’d finally come to the end of himself and trusted God with his life.
10년이 지난 후에도 데니스는 여전히 신실하게 기도하고 있었다. 그때 브록으로부터 “방금 예수님께 내 생명을 드렸어!”라는 전화를 받았다. 데니스는 마침내 자신의 삶을 끝내고 하나님을 신뢰하게 되었다는 친구의 외침을 듣고 눈물을 흘리며 기뻐했다.
In his prayers, Dennis focused on God’s promises to His people through Ezekiel. Although they’d turned from God with detestable practices, He said He would change their hearts: “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh” (v. 19). With changed hearts, they would follow their God faithfully (v. 20).
데니스는 기도에서 에스겔을 통해 하나님의 백성에게 하신 약속에 초점을 맞추었다. 비록 그들이 혐오스러운 행위로 하나님께 등을 돌렸지만, 하나님은 그들의 마음을 바꾸실 것이라고 말씀하셨다: “내가 그들에게 한 마음을 주고 그 속에 새 영을 주며 그 몸에서 돌 같은 마음을 제거하고 살처럼 부드러운 마음을 주어."(19절). 변화된 마음으로 그들은 하나님을 신실하게 따를 것이다(20절).
No matter how far we’ve turned from God, He delights to give us warm and loving hearts. We need only to turn to Him with faith and repentance as we trust in Jesus to save us from our sins. Amy Boucher Pye
