GOD’S UNEXPECTED WAYS(1 CORINTHIANS 1:21–31)
(고전 1:21) 하나님의 지혜에 있어서는 이 세상이 자기 지혜로 하나님을 알지 못하므로 하나님께서 전도의 미련한 것으로 믿는 자들을 구원하시기를 기뻐하셨도다//For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
(고전 1:22) 유대인은 표적을 구하고 헬라인은 지혜를 찾으나//For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
(고전 1:23) 우리는 십자가에 못 박힌 그리스도를 전하니 유대인에게는 거리끼는 것이요 이방인에게는 미련한 것이로되//But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
(고전 1:24) 오직 부르심을 받은 자들에게는 유대인이나 헬라인이나 그리스도는 하나님의 능력이요 하나님의 지혜니라//But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
(고전 1:25) 하나님의 어리석음이 사람보다 지혜롭고 하나님의 약하심이 사람보다 강하니라//Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
(고전 1:26) 형제들아 너희를 부르심을 보라 육체를 따라 지혜로운 자가 많지 아니하며 능한 자가 많지 아니하며 문벌 좋은 자가 많지 아니하도다//For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, {are called}:
(고전 1:27) 그러나 하나님께서 세상의 미련한 것들을 택하사 지혜 있는 자들을 부끄럽게 하려 하시고 세상의 약한 것들을 택하사 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하려 하시며//But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
(고전 1:28) 하나님께서 세상의 천한 것들과 멸시 받는 것들과 없는 것들을 택하사 있는 것들을 폐하려 하시나니//And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, {yea, } and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
(고전 1:29) 이는 아무 육체도 하나님 앞에서 자랑하지 못하게 하려 하심이라//That no flesh should glory in his presence.
(고전 1:30) 너희는 하나님으로부터 나서 그리스도 예수 안에 있고 예수는 하나님으로부터 나와서 우리에게 지혜와 의로움과 거룩함과 구원함이 되셨으니//But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
(고전 1:31) 기록된 바 자랑하는 자는 주 안에서 자랑하라 함과 같게 하려 함이라//That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
(요절: 고린도전서 1:27) 하나님께서 세상의 미련한 것들을 택하사 지혜 있는 자들을 부끄럽게 하려 하시고//God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. [1 CORINTHIANS 1:27]
The pastor squinted over his sermon, holding the pages close to his face so he could see the words. He was extremely nearsighted and read each carefully chosen phrase with an unimposing monotone voice. But God’s Spirit moved through Jonathan Edwards’ preaching to fan the revival fires of the First Great Awakening and bring thousands to faith in Christ.
목사는 설교문을 얼굴 가까이 가져와 눈을 가늘게 뜨고 글씨를 읽었다. 심한 근시였던 그는 세심히 준비해 온 문장 하나하나를 밋밋한 단조로운 어조로 읽어 내려갔다. 그러나 성령님은 조나단 에드워즈의 설교를 통해 1차 대각성운동의 부흥의 불길을 일으켜 수많은 사람들을 그리스도를 믿는 믿음으로 나아오게 했다.
God often uses unexpected things to accomplish His perfect purposes. Writing about His plan to draw wayward humanity near through Jesus’ loving death for us on a cross, Paul concludes, “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong” (1 CORINTHIANS 1:27). The world expected divine wisdom to look like our own and to come with irresistible force. Instead, Jesus came humbly and gently to save us from our sins and so became for us “wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption” (V. 30).
하나님은 종종 그분의 온전한 목적을 이루시기 위해 전혀 예상치 못한 방법으로 일하신다. 하나님을 떠난 인생들을 십자가에서 죽으신 예수님의 사랑을 통해 건지시는 하나님의 계획에 대해 말하면서 바울은 이렇게 결론을 내린다. “그러나 하나님께서 세상의 미련한 것들을 택하사 지혜 있는 자들을 부끄럽게 하려 하시고 세상의 약한 것들을 택하사 강한 것들을 부끄럽게 하려 하셨다”(고린도전서 1:27). 세상 사람들은 하나님의 지혜가 우리 지혜와 비슷하다고 생각하고, 저항할 수 없는 힘을 가지고 올 것으로 기대했다. 그러나 예수님은 우리 죄에서 우리를 구원하시기 위해 겸손하고 온유한 모습으로 오셔서, 우리에게 “하나님으로부터 오는 지혜가 되시며, 의와 거룩함과 구원이 되셨다”(30절, 새번역).
The eternal and all-wise God became a human baby who would grow to adulthood and suffer and die and be raised to life in order to lovingly show us the way home to Him. He loves to use humble means and people to accomplish great things we could never achieve in our own strength. If we’re willing, He may even use us. JAMES BANKS
영원하신 하나님, 모든 지혜의 하나님께서 아기로 오셔서 어른으로 자라 고통받고 죽고 부활하심으로 우리에게 하나님의 집으로 갈 수 있는 사랑의 길을 보여주셨습니다. 하나님은 우리 힘으로는 절대 할 수 없는 큰 일들을 겸손한 사람들과 방법을 사용하여 이루기를 좋아하십니다. 우리가 원한다면 하나님은 우리를 사용하실 수도 있습니다.

Loving Father, thank You for Your unexpected ways. Help me to follow You closely today, so that I may be used for what’s pleasing to You.//사랑의 하나님, 생각지도 못했던 방법으로 일하시는 주님께 감사드립니다. 오늘 주님을 가까이 따르며 주님께 기쁨이 되는 일에 사용될 수 있게 하소서. 주님이 그러하셨듯이 나의 생각지도 못한 행동이 다른 사람에게 복음의 전달의 통로가 되게 하소서. 그것을 위해 항상 기도로 준비되어 있기를 원합니다. 주님이 쓰실만한 그릇으로 준비되어 있기를 원합니다. 인생을 비우고 주님을 담게 하소서. 나로 채워져 있는 것을 하나도 남김없이 비우게 하소서. 성령으로 충만히 채워주소서.
