OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART(EPHESIANS 1:15–23)
(엡 1:15) 이로 말미암아 주 예수 안에서 너희 믿음과 모든 성도를 향한 사랑을 나도 듣고//Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
(엡 1:16) 내가 기도할 때에 기억하며 너희로 말미암아 감사하기를 그치지 아니하고//Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
(엡 1:17) 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님, 영광의 아버지께서 지혜와 계시의 영을 너희에게 주사 하나님을 알게 하시고//That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
(엡 1:18) 너희 마음의 눈을 밝히사 그의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 안에서 그 기업의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇이며//The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(엡 1:19) 그의 힘의 위력으로 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리에게 베푸신 능력의 지극히 크심이 어떠한 것을 너희로 알게 하시기를 구하노라//And what {is} the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
(엡 1:20) 그의 능력이 그리스도 안에서 역사하사 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리시고 하늘에서 자기의 오른편에 앉히사//Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set {him} at his own right hand in the heavenly {places},
(엡 1:21) 모든 통치와 권세와 능력과 주권과 이 세상뿐 아니라 오는 세상에 일컫는 모든 이름 위에 뛰어나게 하시고//Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
(엡 1:22) 또 만물을 그의 발 아래에 복종하게 하시고 그를 만물 위에 교회의 머리로 삼으셨느니라//And hath put all {things} under his feet, and gave him {to be} the head over all {things} to the church,
(엡 1:23) 교회는 그의 몸이니 만물 안에서 만물을 충만하게 하시는 이의 충만함이니라//Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

In 2001, a premature baby named Christopher Duffley surprised doctors by surviving. At five months old, he entered the foster care system until his aunt’s family adopted him. A teacher realized four-year-old Christopher, though blind and diagnosed with autism, had perfect pitch. Six years later at church, Christopher stood onstage and sang, “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” The video reached millions online. In 2020, Christopher shared his goals of serving as a disability advocate. He continues to prove that possibilities are limitless with the eyes of his heart open to God’s plan.

The apostle Paul commended the church in Ephesus for their bold faith (EPHESIANS 1:15–16). He asked God to give them “the Spirit of wisdom and revelation” so they would “know him better” (V. 17). He prayed that their eyes would be “enlightened,” or opened, so they would understand the hope and inheritance God promised His people (V. 18).
바울 사도는 에베소 교회의 담대한 믿음을 칭찬했다(에베소서 1:15- 16). 그는 하나님께서 “지혜와 계시의 영”을 그들에게 주셔서 “하나님을 잘 알게 하시기를” 간구했다(17절). 그들의 마음의 눈을 “밝혀” 혹은 열어, 하나님이 그의 백성에게 약속하신 소망과 기업을 알게 해달라고 기도했다 (18절).
As we ask God to reveal Himself to us, we can know Him more and can declare His name, power, and authority with confidence (VV. 19–23). With faith in Jesus and love for all God’s people, we can live in ways that prove His limitless possibilities while asking Him to keep opening the eyes of our hearts. XOCHITL DIXON
우리에게 하나님을 보여 달라고 간구할 때 우리는 하나님을 더 알게 되고, 확신을 갖고 그분의 이름과 능력과 권위를 선포할 수 있다(19-23절). 우리 마음의 눈을 계속 뜨게 해 주시기를 하나님께 간구하면서, 예수님을 믿는 믿음과 모든 하나님의 백성에 대한 사랑으로 우리는 하나님의 무한한 가능성을 증명하며 살 수 있다.

Mighty and merciful God, please open the eyes of my heart so that I can know, love, and live for You with bold faith that leads others to worship You.//전능하고 자비로우신 하나님, 제 마음의 눈을 뜨게 하셔서 하나님을 알고, 사랑하고, 담대한 믿음으로 하나님을 위한 삶을 살아, 다른 사람들이 하나님을 경배하도록 이끌 수 있게 하소서. 성령으로 충만하여 영으로 하나님을 보게 하시고 주님의 음성을 듣게 하소서. 예배받기를 원하시는 주님의 마음을 알아 예배가 없는 것에 예배를 세우는 일에 앞장서게 하소서.
