GOD’S LOVE NEVER RUNS OUT(LAMENTATIONS 3:19-26)
(애 3:19) 내 고초와 재난 곧 쑥과 담즙을 기억하소서//Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall.
(애 3:20) 내 마음이 그것을 기억하고 내가 낙심이 되오나//My soul hath {them} still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
(애 3:21) 이것을 내가 내 마음에 담아 두었더니 그것이 오히려 나의 소망이 되었사옴은//This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope.
(애 3:22) 여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 아니함이니이다//{It is of} the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
(애 3:23) 이것들이 아침마다 새로우니 주의 성실하심이 크시도소이다//{They are} new every morning: great {is} thy faithfulness.
(애 3:24) 내 심령에 이르기를 여호와는 나의 기업이시니 그러므로 내가 그를 바라리라 하도다//The Lord {is} my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
(애 3:25) 기다리는 자들에게나 구하는 영혼들에게 여호와는 선하시도다//The Lord {is} good unto them that wait for him, to the soul {that} seeketh him.
(애 3:26) 사람이 여호와의 구원을 바라고 잠잠히 기다림이 좋도다//{It is} good that {a man} should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the Lord.

When Josie’s ill and aging father moved in with her, she felt overwhelmed by the daily needs of caring for him. The medications she needed to buy were expensive. The caregiving tasks and the wisdom needed to guide her decision-making for his worsening health condition, aside from her other “full-time” job, were wearing her down. She said, “How could I keep gathering and giving out strength, practical resources, wisdom, and love?”
병들고 연로한 아버지가 함께 살게 되면서 조시는 매일 아버지를 돌봐야 하는 일이 큰 부담으로 다가왔다. 구입해야 하는 약값도 비싸고, 온 종일 근무하는 직장 일에 더하여 간병하는 일과 아버지의 점점 악화되는 건강 상태에 따라 어떤 결정을 내려야 하는지 등이 그녀를 점점 지치게 만들었다. 조시는 말한다. “어떻게 하면 지치지 않고 힘과 자원, 지혜와 사랑을 얻어 나누어줄 수 있을까?”
Josie found hope in Lamentations, a book about the grief Jeremiah and God’s people felt. Jerusalem had been destroyed by the Babylonians, and the Jews now faced the uncertain days of exile ahead. The suffering was overwhelming, but God promised that “because of (His) great love we are not consumed” (LAMENTATIONS 3:22). His covenant love would remain with them, even if they were no longer in the promised land: “for his mercies never cease” (V. 22 NLT).
조시는 예레미야와 하나님의 백성이 느꼈던 슬픔을 기록한 책 예레미야 애가에서 희망을 찾았다. 예루살렘은 바벨론 사람들에 의해 파괴되었고, 유대인들은 불확실한 포로 생활을 앞두고 있었다. 그 고통은 굉장했지만 하나님은 “여호와의 인자와 긍휼이 무궁하시므로 우리가 진멸되지 아니함 이니이다”(예레미야애가 3:22)라고 약속하셨다. 그들은 비록 약속의 땅에 있지 않더라도 “긍휼이 무궁하시므로”(22절) 하나님이 약속하신 사랑은 그들과 함께 있을 것이다.
God’s love for His children has no limits. “God is my portion, my personal source of everything,” Josie realized, echoing verse 24. “I can gather and give out what’s needed each day because I draw my strength from Him, whose love never runs out.”
그분의 자녀들을 향한 하나님의 사랑에는 한계가 없다. “여호와는 나의 기업이시니 그러므로 내가 그를 바라리라”고 한 24절 말씀을 통해 조시는 깨달았다. “한량없는 사랑을 베푸시는 하나님께서 내게 힘을 주시니, 나는 매일 필요한 것들을 얻어 나누어줄 수 있다.”
As we live in obedience to God, we can have hope, no matter what lies ahead. In His perfect wisdom, He knows what we need and will provide for us as He sees best. KAREN HUANG
하나님께 순종하는 삶을 살 때 우리 앞에 어떤 일이 닥치더라도 희망을 가질 수 있다. 완벽한 지혜의 하나님은 우리가 무엇을 필요로 하는지 아시고, 하나님이 보시기에 가장 좋은 것을 우리에게 주실 것이다.

Dear God, my hope is in You. I’ll wait for You.//사랑하는 하나님, 나의 소망은 주님께 있습니다. 주님을 기다리겠습니다. 항상 주님의 최선으로 공급하시는 하나님의 손길을 기대하며 기다리고 살아갑니다. 주님만이 나의 도움이시니 주님이 간섭하여 주소서. 회복의 길을 열어주소서.
