BORN AGAIN?(JOHN 3:1-9)
(요 3:1) 그런데 바리새인 중에 니고데모라 하는 사람이 있으니 유대인의 지도자라//There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
(요 3:2) 그가 밤에 예수께 와서 이르되 랍비여 우리가 당신은 하나님께로부터 오신 선생인 줄 아나이다 하나님이 함께 하시지 아니하시면 당신이 행하시는 이 표적을 아무도 할 수 없음이니이다//The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
(요 3:3) 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 사람이 거듭나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라를 볼 수 없느니라//Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
(요 3:4) 니고데모가 이르되 사람이 늙으면 어떻게 날 수 있사옵나이까 두 번째 모태에 들어갔다가 날 수 있사옵나이까//Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
(요 3:5) 예수께서 대답하시되 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라//Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and {of} the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
(요 3:6) 육으로 난 것은 육이요 영으로 난 것은 영이니//That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
(요 3:7) 내가 네게 거듭나야 하겠다 하는 말을 놀랍게 여기지 말라//Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
(요 3:8) 바람이 임의로 불매 네가 그 소리는 들어도 어디서 와서 어디로 가는지 알지 못하나니 성령으로 난 사람도 다 그러하니라//The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
(요 3:9) 니고데모가 대답하여 이르되 어찌 그러한 일이 있을 수 있나이까//Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
(요절: 요한복음 3:5) 진실로 진실로 네게 이르노니 사람이 물과 성령으로 나지 아니하면 하나님의 나라에 들어갈 수 없느니라//Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. [JOHN 3:5]
“Born again? What does that mean?” asked the funeral director. “I’ve never heard of that term before.” Grasping the opportunity, the son of the deceased father explained what it meant through the words of John chapter 3.
“거듭 난다? 그게 무슨 뜻이에요? 나는 그런 말을 한번도 들어본 적이 없어요.”라고 장의사가 물었다. 아버지의 장례를 치르는 아들은 기회를 놓치지 않고 요한복음 3장의 말씀으로 그 뜻을 이야기했다.
“It comes down to the fact that we are all born once into this world,” he said. “God doesn’t have a magic scale where He weighs our good deeds against the bad. God requires us to be born of the Spirit,” he continued. “That’s why Jesus died on the cross-He paid for our sins and made it possible for us to possess eternal life with Him. We can’t make it on our own.”
“우리 모두가 이 세상에 한 번 태어나는 것은 사실이죠.”라고 말했다. “하나님은 우리의 선과 악을 판정하는 마법의 저울을 갖고 있지 않습니다. 하나님께는 우리가 성령으로 한번 더 태어나는 것이 반드시 필요합니다.” 그는 계속 이어갔다. “그래서 예수님이 십자가에서 죽으셨습니다. 예수님이 우리의 죄값을 대신 치르시고 우리를 그와 함께 영생을 얻을 수 있게 하셨습니다. 우리 스스로는 그렇게 할 수가 없어요.”
In John 3, Nicodemus began to doubt if he truly had it all figured out. A trained teacher in the Scriptures (V. 1), he recognized that Jesus was different and that His teaching had authority (V. 2). He wanted to find out for himself, so he approached Christ one night to get the matter settled. Nicodemus must have accepted Jesus’ statement “You must be born again” (V. 7) and believed, because he helped prepare the Savior’s body for burial after He was crucified (19:39).
요한복음 3장에서 니고데모는 자기가 알고 있던 것이 다 맞는 것인지 의문이 들기 시작했다. 성경을 가르치는 훈련받은 선생(1절)이었던 그는 예수님은 다르시며 그분의 가르침에는 권위가 있다는 것을 알았다(2절). 자신이 직접 확인하고 싶었던 그는 어느 날 밤 이 문제를 풀려고 그리스도를 찾아갔다. 니고데모는 거기서 “너희가 거듭나야 하리라”(7절)는 예수님의 말씀을 받아들인 것이 틀림없다. 왜냐하면 그는 구주 예수님이 십자가에 못 박히신 후 장사 지내기 위해 주님의 시신을 수습하는 일을 도왔기 때문이다 (19:39).
The funeral director agreed to go home and read the third chapter of John’s gospel. Like the son who talked with the director, let’s take Jesus’ words to heart and share them with others as He helps us. BRENT HACKETT
그 장의사는 집에 가서 요한복음 3장을 읽겠다고 했다. 장의사에게 이야기를 해주었던 그 아들처럼, 우리도 예수님의 도우심으로 그의 말씀을 마음에 새겼다가 다른 사람들과 나누도록 하자.

Dear Father, thank You for allowing me to be born again. May Your Spirit move in the hearts of those to whom I share the need to be born again.//사랑하는 아버지, 저를 거듭나게 해 주셔서 감사합니다. 제가 거듭나야 할 필요를 사람들과 나눌 때 성령께서 그들 마음에 임하시옵소서. 우리가 말하지만 성령이 그 대화를 주관하시고 우리가 복음을 전할 때 그들이 받아들이게 하소서. 행여 그들이 복음을 받아들이지 않더라도 복음을 전하는 자의 기쁨을 누리게 하소서.
