God of Freedom(Exodus 3:1-10)
(출 3:1) 모세가 그의 장인 미디안 제사장 이드로의 양 떼를 치더니 그 떼를 광야 서쪽으로 인도하여 하나님의 산 호렙에 이르매//Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, {even} to Horeb.
(출 3:2) 여호와의 사자가 떨기나무 가운데로부터 나오는 불꽃 안에서 그에게 나타나시니라 그가 보니 떨기나무에 불이 붙었으나 그 떨기나무가 사라지지 아니하는지라//And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was {not} consumed.
(출 3:3) 이에 모세가 이르되 내가 돌이켜 가서 이 큰 광경을 보리라 떨기나무가 어찌하여 타지 아니하는고 하니 그 때에//And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
(출 3:4) 여호와께서 그가 보려고 돌이켜 오는 것을 보신지라 하나님이 떨기나무 가운데서 그를 불러 이르시되 모세야 모세야 하시매 그가 이르되 내가 여기 있나이다//And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here {am} I.
(출 3:5) 하나님이 이르시되 이리로 가까이 오지 말라 네가 선 곳은 거룩한 땅이니 네 발에서 신을 벗으라//And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest {is} {holy} ground.
(출 3:6) 또 이르시되 나는 네 조상의 하나님이니 아브라함의 하나님, 이삭의 하나님, 야곱의 하나님이니라 모세가 하나님 뵈옵기를 두려워하여 얼굴을 가리매//Moreover he said, I {am} the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
(출 3:7) 여호와께서 이르시되 내가 애굽에 있는 내 백성의 고통을 분명히 보고 그들이 그들의 감독자로 말미암아 부르짖음을 듣고 그 근심을 알고//And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which {are} in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
(출 3:8) 내가 내려가서 그들을 애굽인의 손에서 건져내고 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅 곧 가나안 족속, 헷 족속, 아모리 족속, 브리스 족속, 히위 족속, 여부스 족속의 지방에 데려가려 하노라//And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
(출 3:9) 이제 가라 이스라엘 자손의 부르짖음이 내게 달하고 애굽 사람이 그들을 괴롭히는 학대도 내가 보았으니//Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
(출 3:10) 이제 내가 너를 바로에게 보내어 너에게 내 백성 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내게 하리라//Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

President Abraham Lincoln had emancipated people held in slavery two-and-a half-years earlier and the Confederacy had surrendered, yet the state of Texas still hadn’t acknowledged the freedom of enslaved persons. However, on June 19, 1865, Union army general Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and demanded that all enslaved persons be released. Imagine the shock and joy as shackles fell off and those in bondage heard the pronouncement of freedom.
에이브러햄 링컨 대통령은 2년 반 전에 노예로 잡혀 있던 사람들을 해방시켰고 남부 동맹은 항복했지만 텍사스 주는 여전히 노예의 자유를 인정하지 않았다. 하지만 1865년 6월 19일, 연합군 장군 고든 그레인저는 텍사스주 갤버스턴에 도착해 모든 노예를 석방할 것을 요구했다. 족쇄가 풀리고 속박에 묶여 있던 사람들이 자유의 선언을 들었을 때의 충격과 기쁨을 상상해 보라.
God sees the oppressed, and He’ll ultimately announce freedom for those under the weight of injustice. This is true now just as it was true in Moses’ day. God appeared to him from a burning bush with an urgent message: “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt” (Exodus 3:7). He not only saw Egypt’s brutality against Israel—but He also planned to do something about it. “I have come down to rescue them,” God declared, “and to bring them . . . into a good and spacious land” (v. 8). He intended to declare freedom to Israel, and Moses would be the mouthpiece. “I am sending you to Pharaoh,” God told His servant, “to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt” (v. 10).
하나님은 억압받는 자를 보시고 궁극적으로 불의의 무게에 짓눌린 자들에게 자유를 선포하실 것이다. 이는 모세 시대에도 그랬던 것처럼 지금도 마찬가지이다. 하나님은 불타는 떨기나무에서 모세에게 긴급한 메시지를 전하며 나타나셨다: “내가 애굽에 있는 내 백성의 고통을 분명히 보고”(출애굽기 3:7). 하나님은 이스라엘에 대한 이집트의 잔인함을 보셨을 뿐만 아니라 이에 대해 무언가를 하실 계획을 세우셨다. “내가 내려가서 ... 그들을 그 땅에서 인도하여 아름답고 광대한 땅, ... 에 데려가려 하노라"(8절)고 선언하셨다. 이스라엘에게 자유를 선포할 계획이었고 모세는 그 대변인이 될 것이다. “이제 내가 너를 바로에게 보내어 너에게 내 백성 이스라엘 자손을 애굽에서 인도하여 내게 하리라”(10절)고 하나님은 그 종에게 말씀하셨다.
Though God’s timing may not happen as quickly as we hope, one day He’ll free us from all bondage and injustice. He gives hope and liberation to all who are oppressed. Winn Collier
하나님의 타이밍은 우리가 바라는 만큼 빨리 오지 않을지라도 언젠가는 우리를 모든 속박과 불의에서 해방시켜 주실 것이다. 그분은 억압받는 모든 이들에게 희망과 해방을 주신다.

Dear God, there’s so much oppression in the story of our world. It’s easy to despair. Please help me stay attuned to Your intention to announce freedom.//사랑의 하나님, 우리 세상에는 너무 많은 억압이 존재합니다. 절망하기 쉽습니다. 자유를 선포하려는 주님의 의도에 계속 집중할 수 있도록 도와주소서. 이 세상 잡신에게 억눌린 민족에게 하나님의 복음을 선포하러 조국을 떠나 있는 선교사님들에게 함께 하소서. 억압 아래 의지가 눌려있는 모든 사람들이 복음을 듣고 해방되게 하소서. 그 일에 영적으로 성숙한 모든 그리스도인들이 참여하게 하소서.
