2024-03-27(수) 그리스도 안에서 열매 맺는 믿음의 사람들(마가복음 11:12-20)
FRUITFUL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST(MARK 11:12-20)
(막 11:12) 이튿날 그들이 베다니에서 나왔을 때에 예수께서 시장하신지라//And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
(막 11:13) 멀리서 잎사귀 있는 한 무화과나무를 보시고 혹 그 나무에 무엇이 있을까 하여 가셨더니 가서 보신즉 잎사귀 외에 아무 것도 없더라 이는 무화과의 때가 아님이라//And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not {yet}.
(막 11:14) 예수께서 나무에게 말씀하여 이르시되 이제부터 영원토록 사람이 네게서 열매를 따 먹지 못하리라 하시니 제자들이 이를 듣더라//And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard {it}.
(막 11:15) 그들이 예루살렘에 들어가니라 예수께서 성전에 들어가사 성전 안에서 매매하는 자들을 내쫓으시며 돈 바꾸는 자들의 상과 비둘기 파는 자들의 의자를 둘러 엎으시며//And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves;
(막 11:16) 아무나 물건을 가지고 성전 안으로 지나다님을 허락하지 아니하시고//And would not suffer that any man should carry {any} vessel through the temple.
(막 11:17) 이에 가르쳐 이르시되 기록된 바 내 집은 만민이 기도하는 집이라 칭함을 받으리라고 하지 아니하였느냐 너희는 강도의 소굴을 만들었도다 하시매//And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves.
(막 11:18) 대제사장들과 서기관들이 듣고 예수를 어떻게 죽일까 하고 꾀하니 이는 무리가 다 그의 교훈을 놀랍게 여기므로 그를 두려워함일러라//And the scribes and chief priests heard {it}, and sought how they might destroy him: for they feared him, because all the people was astonished at his doctrine.
(막 11:19) 그리고 날이 저물매 그들이 성 밖으로 나가더라//And when even was come, he went out of the city.
(막 11:20) 그들이 아침에 지나갈 때에 무화과나무가 뿌리째 마른 것을 보고//And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
(요절: 마가복음 11:13) (예수께서) 멀리서 잎사귀 있는 한 무화과나무를 보시고 혹 그 나무에 무엇이 있을까 하여 가셨더니//Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. [MARK 11:13]
Cindy was excited for her new job in a nonprofit company. What an opportunity to make a difference! She soon discovered her coworkers didn’t share her enthusiasm. They mocked the company’s mission and made excuses for their poor performance as they looked elsewhere for more lucrative positions. Cindy wished she’d never applied for this job. What looked great from afar was disappointing up close.
신디는 비영리회사인 새 직장에서 일하게 되어 마음이 설렜다. 변화를 가져올 아주 좋은 기회였던 것이다! 그러나 신디는 곧 동료들은 자신이 품은 열의를 갖고 있지 않다는 것을 알게 되었다. 그들은 회사가 사명으로 추구하는 것을 조롱하고 자신들의 낮은 성과를 변명하면서 더 많은 급여를 주는 다른 직장을 찾고 있었다. 결국 신디는 이 직장에 지원하지 말았어야 했다고 생각하게 되었다. 멀리서 대단해 보였던 것이 가까이 보니 실망스러웠던 것이다.
This was Jesus’ problem with the fig tree mentioned in today’s story (MARK 11:13). It was early in the season, yet the tree’s leaves signaled it might have early figs. Nope. The tree had sprouted leaves, but it hadn’t yet produced fruit. Disappointed, Jesus cursed the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again” (V. 14). By the next morning the tree had entirely withered (V. 20).
오늘의 성경말씀에 언급된 무화과나무를 보며 예수님도 똑같은 문제를 느끼셨다(마가복음 11:13). 아직 때가 일렀지만 무화과 나무의 잎사귀를 보면 이른 무화과가 열렸을 수도 있어 보였다. 그러나 아니었다. 잎사귀는 많이 났지만 아직 열매는 맺히지 않았던 것이다. 실망하신 예수님은 나무에 저주를 내렸다. “이제부터 영원토록 사람이 네게서 열매를 따 먹지 못하리라”(14절). 다음 날 아침 그 나무는 뿌리째 말라 있었다(20절).
Christ once fasted forty days, so He knew how to go without food. Cursing the fig tree was not about His appetite. It was an object lesson. The tree represented Israel, which had the trappings of true religion but had lost the point. They were about to kill their Messiah, the Son of God. How more barren could they be?
40일 동안 금식하셨던 적이 있는 예수님은 음식 없이 지내는 법을 알고 계셨다. 무화과나무를 저주하신 것은 예수님의 배고픔과는 상관이 없었다. 예수님은 무화과나무를 통해 구체적인 교훈을 주신 것이다. 그 나무는 종교의 겉치레만 있고 핵심을 잃어버린 이스라엘을 상징한다. 그들은 자신들의 메시아이신 하나님의 아들을 죽이려 하고 있었다. 도대체 얼마나 이보다 더 척박해질 수 있을까?
We may look good from afar, but Jesus comes near, looking for fruit that only His Spirit can produce. Our fruit need not be spectacular. But it must be supernatural, such as love, joy, and peace in hard times (GALATIANS 5:22). Relying on the Spirit, we can bear fruit even then for Jesus. MIKE WITTMER
우리가 멀리서 볼 때는 괜찮아 보일 수 있겠지만 예수님은 가까이 오셔서 오직 성령으로만 맺을 수 있는 열매를 찾으신다. 우리의 열매가 꼭 대단한 어떤 것일 필요는 없지만, 어려운 시기에 나누는 사랑과 희락, 화평과 같이 지극히 초자연적인 것이어야 한다(갈라디아서 5:22). 성령님께 의지함으로 우리는 그때 예수님을 위한 열매도 맺을 수 있다.

Holy Spirit, prune me so I might bear more fruit.//성령님, 더 많은 열매를 맺을 수 있도록 저를 다듬어 주소서. 제 안에 성령의 열매가 풍성히 맺히는 은혜를 허락하소서. 나를 위한 열매와 함께 주 예수님을 위한 열매도 풍성히 맺히게 하소서. 나의 마음 밭이 열매를 풍성히 맺을 수 있는 기름진 밭이 되게 하소서.
