SHARE YOUR FAITH(ACTS 16:1-10)
(행 16:1) 바울이 더베와 루스드라에도 이르매 거기 디모데라 하는 제자가 있으니 그 어머니는 믿는 유대 여자요 아버지는 헬라인이라//Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father {was} a Greek:
(행 16:2) 디모데는 루스드라와 이고니온에 있는 형제들에게 칭찬 받는 자니//Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.
(행 16:3) 바울이 그를 데리고 떠나고자 할새 그 지역에 있는 유대인으로 말미암아 그를 데려다가 할례를 행하니 이는 그 사람들이 그의 아버지는 헬라인인 줄 다 앎이러라//Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.
(행 16:4) 여러 성으로 다녀 갈 때에 예루살렘에 있는 사도와 장로들이 작정한 규례를 그들에게 주어 지키게 하니//And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.
(행 16:5) 이에 여러 교회가 믿음이 더 굳건해지고 수가 날마다 늘어가니라//And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.
(행 16:6) 성령이 아시아에서 말씀을 전하지 못하게 하시거늘 그들이 브루기아와 갈라디아 땅으로 다녀가//Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,
(행 16:7) 무시아 앞에 이르러 비두니아로 가고자 애쓰되 예수의 영이 허락하지 아니하시는지라//After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.
(행 16:8) 무시아를 지나 드로아로 내려갔는데//And they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.
(행 16:9) 밤에 환상이 바울에게 보이니 마게도냐 사람 하나가 서서 그에게 청하여 이르되 마게도냐로 건너와서 우리를 도우라 하거늘//And a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.
(행 16:10) 바울이 그 환상을 보았을 때 우리가 곧 마게도냐로 떠나기를 힘쓰니 이는 하나님이 저 사람들에게 복음을 전하라고 우리를 부르신 줄로 인정함이러라//And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

In 1701, the Church of England founded the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in order to send missionaries around the globe. The motto they chose was transiens adiuva nos - Latin for “Come over and help us!” This has been the call on gospel ambassadors since the first century, as followers of Jesus take the message of His love and forgiveness to a world in desperate need of it.

The phrase “come over and help us” comes from the “Macedonian call” described in Acts 16. Paul and his team had arrived at Troas on the west coast of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey, v. 8). There, “Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us’ ” (V. 9). Having received the vision, Paul and his companions “got ready at once to leave for Macedonia” (V. 10). They understood the vital importance of the call.
“이리로 와서 우리를 도우라”는 문구는 사도행전 16장에 묘사된 “마게도냐 사람의 요청”에 등장한다. 바울 일행은 소아시아 서해안 (현재의 튀르키예, 8절)의 드로아에 도착했다. 그곳에서 “바울이 환상을 보았는데 어떤 마케도니아 사람이 서서 그에게 ‘마케도니아로 건너와 우리를 도와주십시오.’하고 간청하였다”(9절, 현대인의 성경). 그 환상을 보고 바울과 그의 동료들은 “곧 마게도냐로 떠나기를 힘썼다”(10절). 그들은 그 부르심의 중요성을 잘 알고 있었던 것이다.
Not everyone is called to cross the seas, but we can support those who do with our prayers and finances. And all of us can tell someone, whether across the room, the street, or the community, about the good news of Jesus. Let’s pray that our good God will enable us to cross over and give people the greatest help of all- the opportunity for forgiveness in Jesus’ name. BILL CROWDER
