2024-03-14(목) 하나님만이 채워주실 수 있다(창세기 25:29-34)
GOD ALONE CAN SATISFY(GENESIS 25:29-34)
(창 25:29) 야곱이 죽을 쑤었더니 에서가 들에서 돌아와서 심히 피곤하여//And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he {was} faint:
(창 25:30) 야곱에게 이르되 내가 피곤하니 그 붉은 것을 내가 먹게 하라 한지라 그러므로 에서의 별명은 에돔이더라//And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red {pottage}; for I {am} faint: therefore was his name called Edom.
(창 25:31) 야곱이 이르되 형의 장자의 명분을 오늘 내게 팔라//And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.
(창 25:32) 에서가 이르되 내가 죽게 되었으니 이 장자의 명분이 내게 무엇이 유익하리요//And Esau said, Behold, I {am} at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?
(창 25:33) 야곱이 이르되 오늘 내게 맹세하라 에서가 맹세하고 장자의 명분을 야곱에게 판지라//And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.
(창 25:34) 야곱이 떡과 팥죽을 에서에게 주매 에서가 먹으며 마시고 일어나 갔으니 에서가 장자의 명분을 가볍게 여김이었더라//Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised {his} birthright.
(요절: 창세기 25:29-30) 야곱이 죽을 쑤었더니 에서가 들에서 돌아와서 야곱에게 이르되 내가 피곤하니//When Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in [and] said to Jacob, … “I’m famished!” [GENESIS 25:29-30]
A thousand dollars of food-jumbo shrimp, shawarma, salads, and more-was delivered to a homeowner. But the man wasn’t having a party. In fact, he didn’t order the smorgasbord; his six-year-old son did. How did this happen? The father let his son play with his phone before bedtime, and the boy used it to purchase the expensive bounty from several restaurants. “Why did you do this?” the father asked his son, who was hiding under his comforter. The six-year-old replied, “I was hungry.” The boy’s appetite and immaturity led to a costly outcome.
왕새우, 샤와르마(중동식 샌드위치), 샐러드, 그 외 다른 요리 등, 천 달러어치의 음식이 어느 집주인에게 배달되었다. 하지만 그 집주인은 파티를 열지 않았고, 실제로 이 파티 음식을 주문하지도 않았다. 여섯 살 난 그의 아들이 한 일이었다. 어떻게 이런 일이 일어났을까? 아버지는 아들이 잠자리에 들기 전에 자신의 휴대폰을 가지고 놀게 했는데, 아이가 아빠 휴대폰으로 여러 식당에 값비싼 음식을 주문했던 것이다. “너 왜 그랬니?” 아버지는 이불 밑에 숨어 있는 아들에게 물었다. 여섯 살 난 아이는 “배가 고파서요.”라고 대답했다. 아이의 식욕과 미숙함이 값비싼 결과를 가져온 것이다.
Esau’s appetite cost him a lot more than a thousand dollars. The story in Genesis 25 finds him exhausted and desperate for food. He said to his brother, “Let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (V. 30). Jacob responded by asking for Esau’s birthright (V. 31). The birthright included Esau’s special place as the firstborn son, the blessing of God’s promises, a double portion of the inheritance, and the privilege of being the spiritual leader of the family. Giving in to his appetite, Esau “ate and drank” and “despised his birthright” (V. 34).
에서는 그의 식욕 때문에 천 달러보다 훨씬 많은 비용을 지불했다. 창세기 25장을 보면, 에서는 몹시 지치고 너무 배가 고파 동생 야곱에게 이렇게 말했다. “내가 피곤하니 그 붉은 것을 내가 먹게 하라”(30절). 그러자 야곱은 에서의 장자의 명분을 자기에게 팔라고 했다(31절). 장자의 명분에는 맏아들로서의 에서의 특별한 지위와 하나님의 큰복의 약속들, 두 배의 재산 상속, 그리고 가족의 영적 지도자가 되는 특권 등이 포함되어 있었다. 식욕을 이기지 못한 에서는 “먹고 마시고… 맏아들의 권리를 가볍게 여겼다”(34절, 새번역).
When we’re tempted and desire something, instead of letting our appetites lead us to costly mistakes and sin, let’s reach out to our heavenly Father-the One who alone satisfies the hungry soul “with good things” (PSALM 107:9). MARVIN WILLIAMS
유혹을 느끼고 무언가가 욕심날 때, 우리의 식욕이 우리를 값비싼 실수와 죄로 이끌게 내버려두지 말고 하늘에 계신 우리 아버지께 손을 내밀도록 하자. 오직 그분 만이 주린 영혼에게 “좋은 것으로” 채워주신다(시편 107:9).
When have you allowed temptation to cost you a great deal? Why can only God satisfy your deepest longings?
유혹 때문에 많은 대가를 치렀던 적이 있습니까? 왜 하나님만이 우리의 가장 깊은 갈망을 채워 주실 수 있을까요?
Dear God, please help me to remember my spiritual birthright when I’m tempted to sin.//사랑하는 하나님, 죄의 유혹을 받을 때 영적 장자권을 기억할 수 있도록 도와주소서. 요셉처럼 탁월하되 또한 순결하게 하소서. 하나님의 자녀로서의 정체성을 항상 기억하고 거룩하게 살아가게 하소서.
