ACTION-NOT DISTRACTION(JOSHUA 1:1-9)
(수 1:1) 여호와의 종 모세가 죽은 후에 여호와께서 모세의 수종자 눈의 아들 여호수아에게 말씀하여 이르시되//Now after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord it came to pass, that the Lord spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,
(수 1:2) 내 종 모세가 죽었으니 이제 너는 이 모든 백성과 더불어 일어나 이 요단을 건너 내가 그들 곧 이스라엘 자손에게 주는 그 땅으로 가라//Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, {even} to the children of Israel.
(수 1:3) 내가 모세에게 말한 바와 같이 너희 발바닥으로 밟는 곳은 모두 내가 너희에게 주었노니//Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
(수 1:4) 곧 광야와 이 레바논에서부터 큰 강 곧 유브라데 강까지 헷 족속의 온 땅과 또 해 지는 쪽 대해까지 너희의 영토가 되리라//From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
(수 1:5) 네 평생에 너를 능히 대적할 자가 없으리니 내가 모세와 함께 있었던 것 같이 너와 함께 있을 것임이니라 내가 너를 떠나지 아니하며 버리지 아니하리니//There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, {so} I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
(수 1:6) 강하고 담대하라 너는 내가 그들의 조상에게 맹세하여 그들에게 주리라 한 땅을 이 백성에게 차지하게 하리라//Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
(수 1:7) 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라 그리하면 어디로 가든지 형통하리니//Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it {to} the right hand or {to} the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
(수 1:8) 이 율법책을 네 입에서 떠나지 말게 하며 주야로 그것을 묵상하여 그 안에 기록된 대로 다 지켜 행하라 그리하면 네 길이 평탄하게 될 것이며 네가 형통하리라//This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
(수 1:9) 내가 네게 명령한 것이 아니냐 강하고 담대하라 두려워하지 말며 놀라지 말라 네가 어디로 가든지 네 하나님 여호와가 너와 함께 하느니라 하시니라//Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God {is} with thee whithersoever thou goest.
(요절: 여호수아 1:7) 오직 강하고 극히 담대하여 나의 종 모세가 네게 명령한 그 율법을 다 지켜 행하고//Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you. [JOSHUA 1:7]
A school bus driver passed out at the wheel, and his large vehicle loaded with sixty students was careening out of control. Seventh grader Dillon Reeves burst from his seat, rushed to the front of the bus, and slowly stepped on the brake in the nick of time. While most students were busy texting or playing games on their phones, Dillon - who didn’t have a phone - had his head up and reacted. He knew to depress the brake slowly as he’d seen the driver do many times. Remaining alert and not distracted helped him save the lives of all aboard, including the driver who later revived.
어느 학교 버스 운전기사가 운전 중 기절하면서, 학생 60명을 태운 대형 버스가 통제를 잃었다. 7학년 학생인 딜론 리브스가 자리에서 벌떡 일어나 버스 앞쪽으로 달려가 아슬아슬한 순간에 브레이크를 천천히 밟았다. 대부분의 학생들이 휴대폰으로 문자 메시지를 보내고 게임을 하는 동안 휴대폰이 없었던 딜론은 고개를 들어 앞을 보고 있다가 반응을 한 것이다. 그는 운전자가 브레이크를 천천히 밟는 것을 전에 여러 번 보았기 때문에 어떻게 하는지를 알고 있었다. 그가 정신을 차리고 주의를 산만하게 하지 않은 것이 탑승한 모든 사람과 나중에 깨어난 운전자의 생명까지 구하는 데 도움이 되었다.
Joshua had to step up courageously after his leader, Moses, was no longer “in the driver’s seat” - leading the people of Israel. God said to him, “Moses my servant is dead. Now . . . get ready” (JOSHUA 1:2). What’s more, He instructed, “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to . . . not turn from (the Book of the Law) to the right or to the left” (V. 7). God was telling Joshua not to get distracted and to keep his focus, and to keep his eyes on the instructions He’d given - meditating on them “day and night” (V. 8).
여호수아는 그의 지도자 모세가 이스라엘 백성을 이끄는 “운전석에서” 내려오자 용기 있게 나서야 했다. 하나님이 그에게 말씀하셨다. “내 종 모세가 죽었으니 이제 … 가라”(여호수아 1:2). 더욱이 하나님은 “강하고 극히 담대하여 (율법책)에서 우로나 좌로나 치우치지 말라”(7절)고 가르치셨다. 하나님은 여호수아에게 주의를 산만하게 하지 말고 집중하여 하나님이 주신 지시 사항을 주목하여 “주야로” 묵상하라고 말씀하셨다(8절).
We can be distracted by screens and other things that cause us to take our eyes off God and the wisdom found in Scripture (2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17). Instead, as we remain alert “by keeping our eyes on Jesus” (HEBREWS 12:2 NLT), we can spring into action when God calls. TOM FELTEN
우리는 하나님과 성경에 있는 지혜(디모데후서 3:16-17)에서 눈을 떼게 만드는 화면이나 다른 것들로 인해 주의가 산만해질 수 있다. 그 대신 “예수님을 바라보며”(히브리서 12:2) 깨어 있으면 하나님께서 부르실 때 즉시 움직일 수 있다.

Dear Jesus, please help me to avoid distractions as I follow You.//사랑하는 예수님, 제가 주님을 따를 때 주의가 산만해지지 않도록 도와주소서. 오직 주 예수 그리스도께만 푯대 삼아 집중하여 걸어가게 하소서. 길 옆의 고양이도 쳐다보지 않고 앞만 보고 걸어가게 하소서.
