GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING(PSALM 139:1-12)
(시 139:1) 여호와여 주께서 나를 살펴 보셨으므로 나를 아시나이다//O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known {me}.
(시 139:2) 주께서 내가 앉고 일어섬을 아시고 멀리서도 나의 생각을 밝히 아시오며//Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
(시 139:3) 나의 모든 길과 내가 눕는 것을 살펴 보셨으므로 나의 모든 행위를 익히 아시오니//Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted {with} all my ways.
(시 139:4) 여호와여 내 혀의 말을 알지 못하시는 것이 하나도 없으시니이다//For {there is} not a word in my tongue, {but}, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.
(시 139:5) 주께서 나의 앞뒤를 둘러싸시고 내게 안수하셨나이다//Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
(시 139:6) 이 지식이 내게 너무 기이하니 높아서 내가 능히 미치지 못하나이다//{Such} knowledge {is} too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot {attain} unto it.
(시 139:7) 내가 주의 영을 떠나 어디로 가며 주의 앞에서 어디로 피하리이까//Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
(시 139:8) 내가 하늘에 올라갈지라도 거기 계시며 스올에 내 자리를 펼지라도 거기 계시니이다//If I ascend up into heaven, thou {art} there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou {art there}.
(시 139:9) 내가 새벽 날개를 치며 바다 끝에 가서 거주할지라도//{If} I take the wings of the morning, {and} dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
(시 139:10) 거기서도 주의 손이 나를 인도하시며 주의 오른손이 나를 붙드시리이다//Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
(시 139:11) 내가 혹시 말하기를 흑암이 반드시 나를 덮고 나를 두른 빛은 밤이 되리라 할지라도//If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
(시 139:12) 주에게서는 흑암이 숨기지 못하며 밤이 낮과 같이 비추이나니 주에게는 흑암과 빛이 같음이니이다//Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light {are} both alike {to thee}.

God truly knows all. But according to an article in The Wall Street Journal, the National Security Agency knows a great deal about us as well through our smartphone data trails. Everyone who owns a cell phone creates “metadata” that leaves a “digital trail.” While each individual crumb of data might seem insignificant, when it’s combined and analyzed, it provides “one of the most powerful investigative tools ever devised.” By tracing our metadata, investigators can pinpoint where we’ve been or where we are at any given moment.
하나님은 진정 모든 것을 다 알고 계신다. 그런데 ‘월스트리트 저널’에 의하면 미국 국가안보국 또한 휴대폰 데이터를 통해 우리에 대한 많은 정보를 수집한다고 한다. 휴대폰을 가진 모든 사람은 “메타데이터” 를 생성하는데, 이로 인해 “디지털 흔적”을 남기게 된다. 개개의 데이터는 대수롭지 않게 보일 수 있지만, 이것들을 모아서 분석하면 “현존하는 가장 강력한 분석 자료”가 되는 것이다. 메타데이터를 추적하면 조사관은 언제든지 우리의 과거와 현재 위치를 정확히 짚을 수 있다.
Far more superior than the NSA’s digital trail analysis, David said God knows where we are in relation to Him. In Psalm 139, he addresses a prayer to God, the one who alone can search and examine what’s going on inside of us (V. 1). The psalmist wrote, “Search me, God, and know my heart” (V. 23). He knows everything about us (VV. 2-6), is present everywhere (VV. 7-12), and “created (our) inmost being” (VV. 13-16). His thoughts are higher than our human understanding (VV. 17-18), and He’s even with us as we face our enemies (VV. 19-22).
다윗은 말하기를, 하나님께서는 우리가 하나님과 어떤 관계에 있는지 알고 계신다고 한다. 미국 국가안보국과는 비교할 수 없을 정도로 말이다. 시편 139편에서 다윗은 우리를 살피시고 아시는 하나님(1절)께 기도를 드린다. 그는 이렇게 기록했다. “하나님이시여 나를 살피사 내 마음을 아시며” (23절). 그분은 우리의 모든 것을 아시고(2-6절), 어디든지 계시며(7-12절), 우리의 “내장을 모태에서 지으셨다”(13-16절). 그분의 생각은 우리의 것보다 높고(17-18절), 우리가 원수를 맞설 때 함께 하신다(19-22절).
Because God is all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful, He knows exactly where we’ve been, what we’ve been doing, and what we’re made of. But He’s also a loving Father who will help us walk in His ways. Let’s follow Him down the trail of life today. MARVIN WILLIAMS
