GOD USES OUR STORIES(PSALM 107:1-9)
(시 107:1) 여호와께 감사하라 그는 선하시며 그 인자하심이 영원함이로다//O give thanks unto the Lord, for {he is} good: for his mercy {endureth} for ever.
(시 107:2) 여호와의 속량을 받은 자들은 이같이 말할지어다 여호와께서 대적의 손에서 그들을 속량하사//Let the redeemed of the Lord say {so}, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
(시 107:3) 동서 남북 각 지방에서부터 모으셨도다//And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.
(시 107:4) 그들이 광야 사막 길에서 방황하며 거주할 성읍을 찾지 못하고//They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.
(시 107:5) 주리고 목이 말라 그들의 영혼이 그들 안에서 피곤하였도다//Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
(시 107:6) 이에 그들이 근심 중에 여호와께 부르짖으매 그들의 고통에서 건지시고//Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, {and} he delivered them out of their distresses.
(시 107:7) 또 바른 길로 인도하사 거주할 성읍에 이르게 하셨도다//And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
(시 107:8) 여호와의 인자하심과 인생에게 행하신 기적으로 말미암아 그를 찬송할지로다//Oh that {men} would praise the {Lord} for his goodness, and {for} his wonderful works to the children of men!
(시 107:9) 그가 사모하는 영혼에게 만족을 주시며 주린 영혼에게 좋은 것으로 채워주심이로다//For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
(요절: 시편 107:2) 여호와의 속량을 받은 자들은 이같이 말할지어다//Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story. [PSALM 107:2]
I opened the memory box and pulled out a small, silver lapel pin, the exact size and shape of a ten-week unborn baby’s feet. Caressing the ten tiny toes, I remembered the loss of my first pregnancy and those who said I was “lucky” I wasn’t “that far along.” I grieved, knowing that my baby’s feet were as real as the heart that once beat inside my womb. I thanked God for freeing me from depression and using my story to comfort others who were grieving after losing a child. More than two decades after my miscarriage, my husband and I named the child we lost Kai, which in some languages means “rejoice.” Though I still ache from my loss, I thank God for healing my heart and using my story to help others.
나는 추억 상자를 열어 옷핀 하나를 집어 들었다. 그것은 크기와 모양이 10주 된 태아의 발과 똑같은 것이었다. 나는 열 개의 작은 발가락을 쓰다듬으며 첫 유산의 기억과 함께 당시 내게 “그래도 너무 늦지 않은 게 다행”이라고 했던 사람들이 떠올랐다. 태중에 품었던 아이의 발과 한동안 뛰었던 태아의 심장을 생각하니 슬펐다. 나는 하나님께서 나를 우울증에서 벗어나게 하시고 아이를 잃고 실의에 빠진 다른 이들을 위로하는데 나의 경험을 사용하게 하신 것을 감사했다. 유산 후 20여 년이 지나서 남편과 나는 유산된 아이의 이름을 ‘카이’라고 지었는데, 그 의미는 다른 언어로 “기뻐하라”이다. 지금도 아이를 잃은 슬픔을 잊을 수는 없지만, 나를 치료하시고 내 경험을 가지고 다른 이들을 도울 수 있게 하신 하나님께 감사를 드린다.
The writer of Psalm 107 rejoiced in God’s established character and sang: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever” (V. 1). He urged “the redeemed of the Lord” to “tell their story” (V. 2), to “give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind” (V. 8). He offered hope with a promise that God alone “satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things” (V. 9).
시편 107편 기자는 하나님의 변함없는 성품을 이렇게 기쁨으로 찬양했다. “여호와께 감사하라 그는 선하시며 인자하심이 영원함이로다” (1절). 그리고 “여호와의 속량을 받은 자들은 이같이 말할지어다”(2절), “여호와의 인자하심과 인생에게 행하신 기적으로 말미암아 그를 찬송 할지로다”(8절)라고 강조했다. 또한 “그가 사모하는 영혼에게 만족을 주시며 주린 영혼에게 좋은 것으로 채워주심이로다”(9절)라고 하신 희망의 약속을 노래에 담았다.
No one can escape grief or affliction, even those who’ve been redeemed through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. We can, however, experience God’s mercy as He uses our stories to point others to His redeeming love. XOCHITL DIXON
슬픔이나 고통을 피할 수 있는 사람은 없다. 그리스도의 십자가 희생으로 구원받은 사람들이라 해도 그렇다. 그러나 하나님께서 우리의 경험을 통하여 다른 이들에게 그분의 구원의 사랑을 알게 하실 때, 우리는 하나님의 인자하심을 경험할 수 있다.

Dear Jesus, thank You for healing me and using my story to point others to Your redeeming love.//사랑하는 예수님, 저를 치유하시고 제 경험을 통해 다른 이들이 구속의 사랑을 알게 하심에 감사드립니다. 내가 경험한 모든 기쁨과 슬픔을 통하여 다른 사람의 믿음을 세우는 데에 사용하게 하소서. 과거의 경험에만 머물지 않게 하시고, 오늘의 경험이 내일의 사역에 밑거름이 되게 하소서.
