CHRIST’S CHARACTER(GALATIANS 5:13-26)
(갈 5:13) 형제들아 너희가 자유를 위하여 부르심을 입었으나 그러나 그 자유로 육체의 기회를 삼지 말고 오직 사랑으로 서로 종 노릇 하라//For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only {use} not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
(갈 5:14) 온 율법은 네 이웃 사랑하기를 네 자신 같이 하라 하신 한 말씀에서 이루어졌나니//For all the law is fulfilled in one word, {even} in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(갈 5:15) 만일 서로 물고 먹으면 피차 멸망할까 조심하라//But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.
(갈 5:16) 내가 이르노니 너희는 성령을 따라 행하라 그리하면 육체의 욕심을 이루지 아니하리라//{This} I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
(갈 5:17) 육체의 소욕은 성령을 거스르고 성령은 육체를 거스르나니 이 둘이 서로 대적함으로 너희가 원하는 것을 하지 못하게 하려 함이니라//For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
(갈 5:18) 너희가 만일 성령의 인도하시는 바가 되면 율법 아래에 있지 아니하리라//But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
(갈 5:19) 육체의 일은 분명하니 곧 음행과 더러운 것과 호색과//Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are {these}; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
(갈 5:20) 우상 숭배와 주술과 원수 맺는 것과 분쟁과 시기와 분냄과 당 짓는 것과 분열함과 이단과//Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
(갈 5:21) 투기와 술 취함과 방탕함과 또 그와 같은 것들이라 전에 너희에게 경계한 것 같이 경계하노니 이런 일을 하는 자들은 하나님의 나라를 유업으로 받지 못할 것이요//Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told {you} in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
(갈 5:22) 오직 성령의 열매는 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과//But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
(갈 5:23) 온유와 절제니 이같은 것을 금지할 법이 없느니라//Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
(갈 5:24) 그리스도 예수의 사람들은 육체와 함께 그 정욕과 탐심을 십자가에 못 박았느니라//And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
(갈 5:25) 만일 우리가 성령으로 살면 또한 성령으로 행할지니//If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
(갈 5:26) 헛된 영광을 구하여 서로 노엽게 하거나 서로 투기하지 말지니라//Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.`
(요절: 갈라디아서 5:22-23) 성령의 열매는 사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과 온유와 절제니//The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. [GALATIANS 5:22-23]
Following a challenging tour in Afghanistan, Scott, a sergeant in the British Army, fell apart. He remembered: “I was in a dark place.” But when he “discovered Jesus and began following Him,” his life changed radically. Now he seeks to share the love of Christ with others, especially veterans with whom he competes in the Invictus Games, an international event for wounded and injured members and veterans of the armed forces.
영국군 하사였던 스콧은 힘든 아프가니스탄 파병 복무를 마치고 정신적으로 무너졌다. 그는 그때 “어둠 가운데 있었다”고 말한다. 그러나 “예수님을 만나 그분을 따르기 시작하며” 그의 삶은 완전히 달라졌다. 이제 그는 다른 사람들에게, 특히 부상당한 현역 및 참전용사들을 위한 국제행사인 인빅투스 게임에 참가해 함께 경기하는 참전용사들에게 그리스도의 사랑을 나누고 있다.
For Scott, reading the Bible, praying, and listening to worship music grounds him before going to the Games. God then helps him “to reflect the character of Jesus and show kindness, gentleness, and grace” to the fellow veterans competing there.
스콧은 경기에 앞서 성경을 읽고 기도하고 찬양을 들으며 준비를 한다. 그러면 하나님께서 그를 도와 참가자들에게 “예수님의 성품을 가지고 자비와 온유와 은혜를 베풀게 하신다”고 말한다.
Scott names here some of the fruit of the Spirit that the apostle Paul wrote about to the believers in Galatia. They struggled under the influence of false teachers, so Paul sought to encourage them to stay true to God and His grace, being “led by the Spirit” (GALATIANS 5:18). By doing so, they would then produce the Spirit’s fruit - “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (VV. 22-23).
스콧은 바울 사도가 갈라디아 성도들에게 쓴 성령의 열매 가운데 몇가지를 여기서 말하고 있다. 당시 거짓 교사로 인해 어려움을 겪었던 갈라디아 성도들에게 바울은 “성령의 인도하심을 받아”(갈라디아서 5:18) 하나님과 그의 은혜에 신실하게 머물라고 했다. 그러면 성도들 삶에 “사랑과 희락과 화평과 오래 참음과 자비와 양선과 충성과 온유와 절제”(22-23절)와 같은 성령의 열매가 맺게 된다고 했다.
With God’s Spirit living within us, we too will burst forth with the Spirit’s goodness and love. We too will show gentleness and kindness to those who surround us. AMY BOUCHER PYE
