GRAFTED INTO GOD’S FAMILY(ROMANS 11:11-21)
(롬 11:11) 그러므로 내가 말하노니 그들이 넘어지기까지 실족하였느냐 그럴 수 없느니라 그들이 넘어짐으로 구원이 이방인에게 이르러 이스라엘로 시기나게 함이니라//I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but {rather} through their fall salvation {is come} unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
(롬 11:12) 그들의 넘어짐이 세상의 풍성함이 되며 그들의 실패가 이방인의 풍성함이 되거든 하물며 그들의 충만함이리요//Now if the fall of them {be} the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
(롬 11:13) 내가 이방인인 너희에게 말하노라 내가 이방인의 사도인 만큼 내 직분을 영광스럽게 여기노니//For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
(롬 11:14) 이는 혹 내 골육을 아무쪼록 시기하게 하여 그들 중에서 얼마를 구원하려 함이라//If by any means I may provoke to emulation {them which are} my flesh, and might save some of them.
(롬 11:15) 그들을 버리는 것이 세상의 화목이 되거든 그 받아들이는 것이 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나는 것이 아니면 무엇이리요//For if the casting away of them {be} the reconciling of the world, what {shall} the receiving {of them be}, but life from the dead?
(롬 11:16) 제사하는 처음 익은 곡식 가루가 거룩한즉 떡덩이도 그러하고 뿌리가 거룩한즉 가지도 그러하니라//For if the firstfruit {be} holy, the lump {is} also {holy}: and if the root {be} holy, so {are} the branches.
(롬 11:17) 또한 가지 얼마가 꺾이었는데 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자가 되었은즉//And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
(롬 11:18) 그 가지들을 향하여 자랑하지 말라 자랑할지라도 네가 뿌리를 보전하는 것이 아니요 뿌리가 너를 보전하는 것이니라//Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
(롬 11:19) 그러면 네 말이 가지들이 꺾인 것은 나로 접붙임을 받게 하려 함이라 하리니//Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
(롬 11:20) 옳도다 그들은 믿지 아니하므로 꺾이고 너는 믿으므로 섰느니라 높은 마음을 품지 말고 도리어 두려워하라//Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
(롬 11:21) 하나님이 원 가지들도 아끼지 아니하셨은즉 너도 아끼지 아니하시리라//For if God spared not the natural branches, {take heed} lest he also spare not thee.
(요절: 로마서 11:17) 돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어//You, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others. [ROMANS 11:17]
During a visit with my father to his beloved Ecuador a few years ago, we visited the family farm where he grew up. I noticed a group of strange trees. My dad explained that when he was feeling mischievous as a boy, he would take a discarded branch from one fruit tree, make slits in a different kind of fruit tree, and tie the loose branch to the trunk like he saw the grownups do. His pranks went unnoticed until those trees started bearing different fruit than expected.
오래 전 아버지와 함께 그가 사랑하는 에콰도르에 여행했을 때, 아버지가 자란 가족 농장에 간 일이 있다. 그때 저는 거기서 이상한 나무들을 보았다. 아버지가 어릴 적 장난치고 싶을 때, 어른들이 하는 것처럼 과일나무에 홈을 쪼개고 다른 버려진 과일나무 가지를 꽂아 넣은 뒤 동여매었던, 접붙임된 나무들이라고 아버지는 설명했다. 아버지의 장난은 그 나무들이 전과 다른 열매를 맺기 시작할 때까지는 발각되지 않았다.
As my dad described the process of engrafting, I got a picture of what it means for us to be grafted into God’s family. I know my late father is in heaven because he was grafted into God’s family through faith in Jesus.
아버지가 접붙임 과정을 설명해 주셨을 때, 나는 우리가 하나님의 가족으로 접붙임 된다는 의미가 무엇인지 이해하게 되었다. 돌아가신 아버지는 지금 천국에 계신 줄 안다. 왜냐하면 예수님을 믿음으로써 아버지는 하나님의 가족으로 접붙임 되었기 때문이다.
We can have the assurance of eventually being in heaven as well. The apostle Paul explained to the believers in Rome that God made a way for gentiles, or non-Jews, to be reconciled with Himself: “You, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root” (ROMANS 11:17). When we put our faith in Christ, we’re grafted in with Him and become part of God’s family. “If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit” (JOHN 15:5).
우리도 나중에는 천국에 갈 것이라는 확신을 가질 수 있다. 바울 사도는 로마에 있는 신자들에게 하나님이 이방인이나 유대인이 아닌 사람들이 하나님과 화해할 수 있는 방법을 만들었다고 설명했다. “돌감람나무인 네가 그들 중에 접붙임이 되어 참감람나무 뿌리의 진액을 함께 받는 자가 되었은즉”(로마서 11:17)이라고 말이다. 우리가 그리스도를 믿을 때, 우리는 주님께로 접붙여져 하나님의 가족의 일부가 된다. “그가 내 안에, 내가 그 안에 거하면 사람이 열매를 많이 맺나니”(요한복음15:5).

접붙인 나무들과 마찬가지로 우리도 그리스도를 믿을 때 우리는 새로운 피조물이 되고 많은 열매를 맺을 수 있다.

Dear God, thank You for loving me and accepting me into Your family.//사랑하는 하나님, 저를 사랑하시고 하나님의 가족으로 받아 주셔서 감사드립니다. 제가 원래는 버려진 가지였는데 이제는 하늘나라 나무에 접붙임 받은 존재임을 알고 다른 나무들도 하찮게 보지 않게 하소서. 나의 눈에 예수 그리스도의 렌즈를 끼고 세상을 바라보게 하소서.
