EVEN LEVITICUS(LEVITICUS 13:1-8)
(레 13:1) 여호와께서 모세와 아론에게 말씀하여 이르시되//And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, saying,
(레 13:2) 만일 사람이 그의 피부에 무엇이 돋거나 뾰루지가 나거나 색점이 생겨서 그의 피부에 속죄소 위 곧 나병 같은 것이 생기거든 그를 곧 제사장 아론에게나 그의 아들 중 한 제사장에게로 데리고 갈 것이요//When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it be in the skin of his flesh {like} the plague of leprosy; then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests:
(레 13:3) 제사장은 그 피부의 병을 진찰할지니 환부의 털이 희어졌고 환부가 피부보다 우묵하여졌으면 이는 나병의 환부라 제사장이 그를 진찰하여 그를 부정하다 할 것이요//And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and {when} the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight {be} deeper than the skin of his flesh, it {is} a plague of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean.
(레 13:4) 피부에 색점이 희나 우묵하지 아니하고 그 털이 희지 아니하면 제사장은 그 환자를 이레 동안 가두어둘 것이며//If the bright spot {be} white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight {be} not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the priest shall shut up {him that hath} the plague seven days:
(레 13:5) 이레 만에 제사장이 그를 진찰할지니 그가 보기에 그 환부가 변하지 아니하고 병색이 피부에 퍼지지 아니하였으면 제사장이 그를 또 이레 동안을 가두어둘 것이며//And the priest shall look on him the seventh day: and, behold, {if} the plague in his sight be at a stay, {and} the plague spread not in the skin; then the priest shall shut him up seven days more:
(레 13:6) 이레 만에 제사장이 또 진찰할지니 그 환부가 엷어졌고 병색이 피부에 퍼지지 아니하였으면 피부병이라 제사장이 그를 정하다 할 것이요 그의 옷을 빨 것이라 그리하면 정하리라//And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day: and, behold, {if} the plague {be} somewhat dark, {and} the plague spread not in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean: it {is but} a scab: and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.
(레 13:7) 그러나 그가 정결한지를 제사장에게 보인 후에 병이 피부에 퍼지면 제사장에게 다시 보일 것이요//But if the scab spread much abroad in the skin, after that he hath been seen of the priest for his cleansing, he shall be seen of the priest again.
(레 13:8) 제사장은 진찰할지니 그 병이 피부에 퍼졌으면 그를 부정하다 할지니라 이는 나병임이니라//And {if} the priest see that, behold, the scab spreadeth in the skin, then the priest shall pronounce him unclean: it {is} a leprosy.

The topic was Leviticus, and I had a confession to make. “I skipped a lot of the reading,” I told my Bible study group. “I’m not reading about skin diseases again.”
성경공부 모임에서 레위기를 공부하던 중 이런 고백을 했다. “읽지 않고 넘어간 부분이 많아요. 피부병에 관한 부분은 다시 안 읽을 겁니다.”
That’s when my friend Dave spoke up. “I know a guy who believed in Jesus because of that passage,” he said. Dave explained that his friend - a doctor - had been an atheist. He decided that before he completely rejected the Bible, he’d better read it for himself. The section on skin diseases in Leviticus fascinated him. It contained surprising details about contagious and noncontagious sores (13:1-46) and how to treat them (14:8-9). He knew this far surpassed the medical knowledge of that day - yet there it was in Leviticus. There’s no way Moses could have known all this, he thought. The doctor began to consider that Moses really did receive his information from God. Eventually he put his faith in Jesus.
그러자 친구 데이브가 목소리를 높여 말했다. “그 구절 때문에 예수님을 믿은 사람을 내가 알고 있어.” 데이브는 무신론자였던 그의 의사 친구가 성경을 전적으로 거부하기 전에 한번 성경을 직접 읽어 보기로 했다고 했다. 그러다가 레위기에서 피부병에 관한 부분이 그의 마음을 사로잡았다. 거기에는 전염되는 상처와 전염되지 않는 상처에 관해(13:1- 46), 그리고 그 치료법(14:8-9)에 관해 놀랍도록 상세한 내용이 들어있었다. 당시의 의학 지식을 초월하는 내용들이 레위기에 기록되어 있었던 것이다. ‘모세가 이 모든 것을 알았을 리가 없다’고 생각한 그 의사는 실제로 모세가 하나님으로부터 그 정보를 받았을 것으로 생각하다가 마침내 예수님을 믿게 되었다.
If parts of the Bible bore you, well, I’m with you. But everything it says is there for a reason. Leviticus was written so the Israelites would know how to live for and with God. As we learn more about this relationship between God and His people, we learn about God Himself.
성경에 지루한 부분이 있다는 것에 나도 동의한다. 그러나 성경 안에 들어있는 말씀들은 다 그 이유가 있다. 레위기는 이스라엘 백성들이 하나님을 위하고 하나님과 함께 사는 방법을 알게 하려고 기록되었다. 하나님과 그의 백성 사이의 관계를 더 많이 알수록 우리는 하나님 그분에 대해 알게 된다.

Father, teach me how to appreciate the Bible. Let every part speak to me.//하나님 아버지, 어떻게 성경을 읽고 깨우칠 수 있는지 가르쳐 주소서. 성경의 모든 부분이 제게 말씀하게 하소서. 성경의 모든 부분이 하나님의 영감을 받아 기록된 것일진대 한 부분도 놓치지 않고 받아들이게 하소서. 하나님과의 친밀함으로 성경을 대하게 하소서. 아침에 묵상한 하나님의 말씀을 하루종일 내 안에서 읖조리게 하소서.
