2023-12-27(수) 생명을 구하는 하나님의 지혜(잠언 11:24-31)
GOD’S WISDOM SAVES LIVES(PROVERBS 11:24-31)
(잠 11:24) 흩어 구제하여도 더욱 부하게 되는 일이 있나니 과도히 아껴도 가난하게 될 뿐이니라//There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and {there is} that withholdeth more than is meet, but {it tendeth} to poverty.
(잠 11:25) 구제를 좋아하는 자는 풍족하여질 것이요 남을 윤택하게 하는 자는 자기도 윤택하여지리라//The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
(잠 11:26) 곡식을 내놓지 아니하는 자는 백성에게 저주를 받을 것이나 파는 자는 그의 머리에 복이 임하리라//He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing {shall be} upon the head of him that selleth {it}.
(잠 11:27) 선을 간절히 구하는 자는 은총을 얻으려니와 악을 더듬어 찾는 자에게는 악이 임하리라//He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.
(잠 11:28) 자기의 재물을 의지하는 자는 패망하려니와 의인은 푸른 잎사귀 같아서 번성하리라//He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.
(잠 11:29) 자기 집을 해롭게 하는 자의 소득은 바람이라 미련한 자는 마음이 지혜로운 자의 종이 되리라//He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool {shall be} servant to the wise of heart.
(잠 11:30) 의인의 열매는 생명 나무라 지혜로운 자는 사람을 얻느니라//The fruit of the righteous {is} a tree of life; and he that winneth souls {is} wise.
(잠 11:31) 보라 의인이라도 이 세상에서 보응을 받겠거든 하물며 악인과 죄인이리요//Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
(요절: 잠언 11:30) 의인의 열매는 생명 나무라 지혜로운 자는 사람을 얻느니라//The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives. [ PROVERBS 11:30 ]
A mail carrier became concerned after seeing one of her customers’ mail pile up. The postal worker knew the elderly woman lived alone and usually picked up her mail every day. Making a wise choice, the worker mentioned her concern to one of the woman’s neighbors. This neighbor alerted yet another neighbor, who had a spare key to the woman’s home. Together they entered their friend’s home and found her lying on the floor. She had fallen four days earlier and couldn’t get up or call for help. The postal worker’s wisdom, concern, and decision to act likely saved her life.
한 우편배달부가 어느 우편함에 우편물이 계속 쌓이는 것을 보고 걱정이 되었다. 그 배달원은 혼자 사는 그 할머니가 평소에 우편물을 매일 가져가는 것을 알고 있었다. 배달원은 지혜롭게 할머니의 이웃에게 그 사실을 이야기했다. 그 이웃은 할머니의 집 열쇠를 여분으로 가지고 있던 다른 이웃에게 알렸고, 그들은 함께 친구 할머니의 집으로 들어가 바닥에 쓰러져 있는 할머니를 발견했다. 나흘 전에 넘어진 할머니는 일어나지도 못하고 전화도 할 수 없었던 것이다. 그 우편배달부의 지혜와 관심, 그리고 이를 행동으로 옮긴 것이 할머니의 생명을 구했다.
Proverbs says, “the one who is wise saves lives” (11:30). The discernment that comes from doing right and living according to God’s wisdom can bless not only ourselves but those we encounter too. The fruit of living out what honors Him and His ways can produce a good and refreshing life. And our fruit also prompts us to care about others and to look out for their well-being.
잠언은 “지혜로운 자는 사람을 얻는다”(11:30)고 말한다. 옳은 행실로 하나님의 지혜를 따라 살면서 생기는 분별력은 자신뿐 아니라 만나는 사람들에게 복이 된다. 하나님과 그분의 일을 영화롭게 하면 그 열매로 선하고 활기찬 삶을 살 수 있다. 그리고 그 열매는 또한 다른 사람들을 돌보고 그들의 안위를 살피게 한다.
As the writer of Proverbs asserts throughout the book, wisdom is found in reliance on God. Wisdom is considered “more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her” (8:11). The wisdom God provides is there to guide us throughout our lives. It just might save a life for eternity. KATARA PATTON
잠언의 저자가 계속 강조하듯 지혜는 하나님을 의지하는 데에서 얻어진다. 지혜는 “진주보다 나으므로 무릇 원하는 것을 이에 비교할 수 없다”(8:11). 하나님이 주시는 지혜는 우리를 평생 인도해 주며, 한 생명을 영원히 구할 수도 있다.

Heavenly Father, please give me wisdom to follow Your path and directions. Help me to look out for others as You guide me.//하늘에 계신 아버지, 주님의 길과 인도하심을 따르는 지혜를 주시고, 하나님의 인도하심을 따라 다른 사람들을 살필 수 있도록 도와주소서. 지혜의 눈을 열어주셔서 주님의 지혜를 배우게 하시고, 주님으로부터 받은 지혜로 다른 사람을 살리고 세우는 일에 사용하게 하소서. 시대를 읽는 지혜도 허락하사 나와 관련된 사람들에게 시대를 전하는 일도 감당하게 하소서.
