본문 : 마태복음 7:15-27(Matthew 7:15-27)
(마 7:15) 거짓 선지자들을 삼가라 양의 옷을 입고 너희에게 나아오나 속에는 노략질하는 이리라//Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
(마 7:16) 그의 열매로 그들을 알지니 가시나무에서 포도를, 또는 엉겅퀴에서 무화과를 따겠느냐//Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
(마 7:17) 이와 같이 좋은 나무마다 아름다운 열매를 맺고 못된 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺나니//Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
(마 7:18) 좋은 나무가 나쁜 열매를 맺을 수 없고 못된 나무가 아름다운 열매를 맺을 수 없느니라//A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither {can} a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
(마 7:19) 아름다운 열매를 맺지 아니하는 나무마다 찍혀 불에 던지우니라//Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
(마 7:20) 이러므로 그의 열매로 그들을 알리라//Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
(마 7:21) 나더러 주여 주여 하는 자마다 천국에 다 들어갈 것이 아니요 다만 하늘에 계신 내 아버지의 뜻대로 행하는 자라야 들어가리라//Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
(마 7:22) 그 날에 많은 사람이 나더러 이르되 주여 주여 우리가 주의 이름으로 선지자 노릇하며 주의 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며 주의 이름으로 많은 권능을 행치 아니하였나이까 하리니//Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
(마 7:23) 그 때에 내가 저희에게 밝히 말하되 내가 너희를 도무지 알지 못하니 불법을 행하는 자들아 내게서 떠나가라 하리라//And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(마 7:24) 그러므로 누구든지 나의 이 말을 듣고 행하는 자는 그 집을 반석 위에 지은 지혜로운 사람 같으리니//Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
(마 7:25) 비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪히되 무너지지 아니하나니 이는 주초를 반석 위에 놓은 연고요//And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
(마 7:26) 나의 이 말을 듣고 행치 아니하는 자는 그 집을 모래 위에 지은 어리석은 사람 같으리니//And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
(마 7:27) 비가 내리고 창수가 나고 바람이 불어 그 집에 부딪히매 무너져 그 무너짐이 심하니라//And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Hurricanes, floods, and tornadoes have caused billions of dollars in property damage in states across the nation. So, at the urging of businesses, government, and hard-pressed insurance companies, some builders are constructing fortress-like homes with windows that can withstand 130 mile-per-hour winds, roof nails so strong they can only be cut off, and framing material that can weather the tremendous forces faced by a supersonic jet. In Bolingbrook, Illinois, a community damaged by a tornado in the 1990s, a company is constructing such a "fortified" house in hopes that the idea will catch on.
미국 전역에 걸쳐서 폭풍과 홍수와 돌풍 등이 수십억 달러의 재산 피해를 내게 했다. 그래서, 기업체와 정부와 압박하는 보험회사의 재촉으로 인하여 일부 건축하는 사람들이 요새같은 집을 짓고 있는데, 창문은 시속 130마일의 바람에도 견딜 수 있고, 지붕의 못은 너무 강해서 일부러 절단해야만 잘라지며, 뼈대를 이루는 재료는 초음속 제트기가 직면하는 거대한 힘에도 견딜 수 있다. 1990년대에 돌풍에 피해를 입은 지역인 일리노이주의 Bolingbrook에서, 한 회사는 그런 개념을 적용하려는 생각으로 "요새화된" 집을 건축하고 있다.
We who know the Lord Jesus realize that when it comes to building our spiritual foundation, it must be strong and secure. In today's Scripture, Christ made it clear what that foundation must be when He referred to "these sayings of Mine"(Matt. 7:24), which included His teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7).
주 예수님을 아는 우리는, 우리의 영적 기초를 건설할 때는 강하고 안전해야 한다는 것을 실감한다. 오늘의 성경 본문에서, 예수님이 "나의 이 말"(마 7:24)이라고 하셨을 때, 그것은 산상수훈(마 5-7장)에서의 가르침을 포함하는데, 그 기초가 어떠해야 함을 분명하게 하셨다.

Upon the Rock of Ages.//예수 그리스도 위에 안전히 서 있다.
